“Abandoned and creepy since 1995”

This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner. Abandoned for almost 20 years now, the Atlanta Prison Farm once housed up to 1,000 minimum security inmates. Closed since 1995, the Atlanta Prison Farm has slowly begun to be reclaimed by nature and graffiti. A 2009 fire destroyed much of the building and anyone wishing to visit the facility (despite the warnings of numerous "no trespassing" signs) should use extreme caution as the old prison is far from structurally sound.

Just did it. Surprisingly easy to get to-- drove right up to it. Property is just southwest of the police academy and landfill. You can just barely see the barbed wire fence in the trees, and there's a driveway to the left if you're looking at the property. No Trespassing sign but there weren't any cameras or cops we could see.

Super creepy. Especially since it had been raining a ton and the building has a lot of loud dripping noises that made us run out fast a couple times not realizing it was just dripping.

I think you can Google map Old Atlanta Prison Farm to help you with location. Super cool adventure (and scary... I peed a little).

There is no sign in the road, the entrance is in front of a water treatment facility and it has been blocked for cars but you can leave it and go there by foot. Walking you will find an intersection; if yo go straight in 5 minutes you'll find the main building, if you go right in 3 minutes you'll find another industrial building entrance. There is a lot of garbage around so the smell is very bad, use a handkerchief or similar. The inside of the building is pretty dark even at daylight so bring lanterns if you can. Is like a crack house, not scary but the possibility of find some people there give me the creeps. Enjoy the adrenaline!

This has been used as a set for many movies and they have cleaned it up a lot. It is a little safer and has less debris now. don't go in august, or if you do, be wary of ticks. LOTS OF TICKS.

So how would one presumably contact the owner and gain permission?

I rode by there yesterday and you cannot see it from the road. Its blocked off my tall fences and locked gates. Its across from the water treatment faciliy. No trespassing signs are EVERYWHERE. I saw no cops but that doesn't mean they wont be called from the guards at the gate at the water treatment facility. There is someone at that gate at all times and they can see what you are doing. If you want to take a chance, then I wish you luck. I didn't want to risk getting arrested.

I went there and there is no sign which mentioned Atlanta Prison Farm. It is across from the water treatment facility area which are all fenced. So to get there, you need to park your car by road which are surrounded by roadblocks. You can walk further for approximately 5 minutes and you will get a grasp of the prison building. Be cautious, it has very nasty smelling and recommend you cover your nose with cloth or get the handkerchief. So be cautious inside the building can give you a strong feeling of creepiness and eerie. So I recommend going there during daylight not at night. Be cautious, it is near the Atlanta Police Academy site.
