A very large gravel pull off lot near I-5 in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument (BLM), perfect for an overnight while traveling the I-5. The Old Hwy 99 is a very quiet road, so the only noise comes from I-5 which was faint with all our windows closed. There is fantastic reception here, full LTE Verizon and 1 bar of LTE Sprint. The pull off is a clean gravel lot that is level the closer you get to the trees. Be careful of the small trench in the lot by the road when pulling off Old Hwy 99. There is a little trail at the north end of the pull off perfect for dogs.

We found the most level spot was up by a concrete jersey barrier towards the edge of the lot by the trees.

We were looking for a easy and free spot to park overnight while traveling I-5. This is a great pick. Fairly level spots even for a 30' Airstream. The AT&T cell service is GREAT. 5 bars with 4G.

Easy to get to, just take the Mt. Ashland exit [if heading south]. I'm not sure of the exit for heading north. Then follow the Old 99 Highway SOUTH and about 3/4 of a mile from exit is this pull-off on the west side of the road.

Very quite, but we had the windows closed because it was cold.

This camp was ok. Its just a big pull out area along Hwy 99. There are no amenities here of any kind. Makes a good stop if your just passing thru, if you plan on staying a while I would recommend the Mt Ashland that is 20 minutes up the mountain.

It was very quiet here, only a few cars a day pass by. One other RV showed up last night and left in the morning. The PCT is about 2 miles down the road so there is some hiking available. And the town of Ashland is about a 15 minute drive.

Cell and internet reception is good here. For all the free camping in the area, I would only recommend this one for a one night stop.

We had a great stay at this dry camping location. This spot is right off the freeway and the noise from the road is barely heard. There is still a washed away stream in the middle of the site running parallel to the road but if you enter from either far sides you will avoid the big dip. Would definitely stay here again.

We were traveling south on I5 and I got confused and missed the exit. Take exit 6 Mt Ashland to Old 99 south. Then follow Old 99 about 3-4 miles to the turn off. There is a weird but cute sign that says Earth. I didn’t like the random garbage that was strewed around, but it wasn’t awful. It’s going to be fine for one night.

Read the reviews and thought this may not be such a great place to stay. Sure there was some wind and some road noise but it was fine for the night. The lot is close to level and large enough for multiple rigs. We didn't see one car drive by all night. Take exit 1 going north just over the boarder into Oregon. It is the second pull out on the right next to the exit. You have to drive north on that road to get back to the highway.

I also found the other spot 2 miles north with the Earth sign and everything to me says it is BLM land. My public lands map shows it as BLM and there is no private locations nearby. The road turns into private land farther north. I am going to do more research and stay there if it checks out. Maybe the officer mentioned in the previous post is incorrect.

Loved staying a night here during a trip south. Beautiful views and it’s easy to get back on the road in the morning.

As others have said, the sure spot is right on the right after taking the Old Hwy 99 exit off I-5 north. Some graffiti poet scribe "Fartburger" on one of the cement barrier panels so that became our nickname for the spot. :)

Your close to I-5 but the background hum of the freeway didn't bother us. Not many cars pass on 99 but the ones that do hit a drainage grate thing that is kind of annoying. Solid Verizon, decent views up the hill and over the freeway. A big buck pranced by our window on the first night so that was cool.

As others have also said there's potential nicer spots up the road but we went with the safer bet to not get a door knock in the middle of the night.

First don’t turn left off the exit 6 southbound you will wind up on 7 miles of steep narrow switchbacks. Roadwork in area so confusing. Fairly peaceful and great views 4 bars on att

I stopped here for the night driving from LA to Seattle. Coming from the south this is the second turnout on the right just off Old Hwy 99. If you go more than 1000 feet past the first you have gone too far. Coming from the north it’s the first turnout.

There was some freeway noise but there were only a couple of cars on the road. I can’t comment on views because it was snowing and I couldn’t see anything.
