“434 acres nestled in beauty”
The North Carolina Arboretum is a 434-acre public garden located within the Bent Creek Experimental Forest and is surrounded by lush folds of the botanically diverse Southern Appalachian Mountains as well as adjacent to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, at Milepost 393. The Arboretum was created to serve as a statewide and national resource and cultivator of education, economic development, research, conservation and garden demonstration. Its 434 acres of natural beauty provides ample opportunities for all ages to connect with nature and learn how plants are important to the world.
The arboretum is a gorgeous place for a quiet afternoon walk with plenty of different trails accommodating both experienced and beginning hikers. They also host beautiful summer weddings with ceremonies in the gardens and receptions inside!
