The Altamont Theatre is Asheville's newest professional music venue! We are a sophisticated but not stuffy Listening Room. We offer the BEST acoustics in Western NC in the most intimate setting with only 120 seats.  The Altamont Theatre is Asheville’s newest professional music venue for nationaly touring artists as well as local musicians. We are a 120-150 seat intimate Listening Room for the serious music lover. We are sophisticated but by no means stuffy. We offer the best acoustics in town! The quality of talent is always great! The Altamont Theatre building was originally built in 1895 and has been renovated under strict guidelines to qualify for Historic-Preservation tax credits as well as the stringent guidelines for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification. An ambitious project, it is the first and only fully LEED certified renovation in downtown Asheville. The Altamont Theatre is the winner of the 2011 Griffin Award for Adaptive Re-Use under the Architectural Design of Patti Glazer and Chris Rogers. The combination of the “old” with the “new” has truly given this space it’s identitiy. With huge storefront windows and the original 1895 hardwood floors combined with enormous manufactured wood beams brought in to structurally support the building, you would never know this building was not originally made the way you see it today. The main floor consists of the upstairs lobby, box office and theatre while the lower lobby hosts the bar, restrooms and greenroom for musicians. The second and third floors of the building consist of six condos rented for short term vacation stays. In keeping with Asheville’s mindset of preserving it’s incredible historic architecture amidst it’s culturally rich artistic vibes in beautiful downtown the mission of owners, Brian Lee and Tiffany Hampton, of The Altamont Theatre is to preserve Asheville’s identity in architecture, inspire and educate by bringing professional entertainment to Asheville’s rich nightlife and music scene and to continue to support the tourist industry bringing more business to downtown.
