“Enjoy the Prairie and Wildflowers”
A log cabin and a steam-powered flour mill at Old Mill State Park are bold landmarks from the past. The grist mill still gets fired up once a year to grind flour. The Middle River meanders through the park and visitors can see deer, beaver, and ruffed grouse. Enjoy the prairie and the ever-changing parade of wildflowers along wooded trails.A swimming area, swinging bridge, picnic grounds, campground, and interpretive displays are popular among visitors. For all visitors, the semi-modern campsite rate is reduced to an off season rate when showers and flush toilet facilities are not available. For Minnesota residents with physical disabilities, half-priced camping is available Sunday-Thursday. This reduced rate applies to standard and rustic campsites only.

Well worth to trip to northern Minnesota to see this small state park. There is an old mill and home, complete with furnishings. There were no historical re-enactors or guides here during midweek in late September but it would be really interesting to hear the interpreter stories. The stonework all built by the CCC is intact and glorious. The water tower and all the bridges are amazing.
We were here mid-week in late September. Water was turned off. We were the only campers in the park. So very quiet! We had reserved in advance (no cell signal here), and chose site 25 purely by reviewing the map. If we were to return, we would pick site 15 or 17. Much larger sites, and more private.
We were hoping we could see the river from our campsite, but there are trees and brush between the campsites and the river. We walked to the far side of the bridge and sat on the bench overlooking the river for our morning coffee.
Sites inside the loop have no privacy at all but could be fun for a group that is camping together.
Nice hiking trails. And it looks like there is a swimming pond that could be fun in the summer. (also CCC built)
