Cabela's

We stayed the maximum 48 hours here per the sign in the parking lot, and it was a great home base for some shopping at Cabela's, Target (walking distance next door), and Costco (a short drive down the road, has both diesel and gas). There's also the mall a little further down the road with many of the stores you'd expect in the lower 48.

Relatively noisy from Cabela's traffic, people running generators, and truck deliveries, but no worse than you'd expect from a parking lot. Lots of grass nearby for walking dogs.

Decent Verizon but they don't have fast data speeds anywhere we found in Anchorage, and AT&T was a little better. There's also a Starbucks next door with wi-fi but we didn't test it.

No potable water or trash here, but a free pull-through dump station that's easy to get in and out of. It's a great value if you can restrain yourself from spending hundreds of dollars at Cabela's while you're in their lot! ;-)

We were appreciative for this free lot, which saved us from the steep RV park prices in Anchorage, all the while making shopping super convenient.

This is a great place to stop for a few days and stock up on supplies before heading out again. Of course, it's a parking lot, so expect some noise from the business and other RVs.

There are no hookups, but there is a dump station and water fill-up nearby.

When I arrived at Cabela's, I found signs for No Overnight parking. I called to see if the prohibition included the RV parking and the person who answered my call informed me that it was prohibited in the entire parking lot. In the first 24 hours I would receive a notification and the second night the vehicle would be tow.

To clarify the previous review. Overnight parking is permitted. You are not supposed to stay multiple nights. There is a dump station that we did not need, but it is there and looks good. We heard planes at night that were loud but not a issue for us. We could get some local TV stations.
We were asked to park on the Target side of Cabela’s. There were about 15 other rigs last night.

We pulled in and there were probably 15 RV's already there at about 5 pm on a Sunday. There was a sign posted RV parking area near the Target side of Cabelas, but it also said no over night parking. The next morning there were probably 20 RV's parked in this area closest to Target, and another 6 RV's in the front parking lot.

Stopped at 8:30p on a Sun night to use ‘free dump’. Dump is free with purchase in Cabela’s and pin code they give you. Otherwise $5. We were there after store was closed, originally planning to dump after shopping in the am. However since over 25 RVs were stacked in this side lot and people with obvious vacation money setting out chairs and biking in the free lot, we just left.

Best free place in town. We had a quiet night's sleep. We parked out in the parking lot near the walking trail. Lots of other people around camping.

Great place to stop when traveling through Anchorage

Great place to stop after a long day of traveling. Nice view of the mountains and it’s free!

Called and spoke to a Cabela's team member to confirm the overnight policy and she said 24 hours max. She also advised that the dump station is closed for the season. The parking lot was big, clean and safe. Being next to a Target was very helpful too. Great spot to stop at for the night with no security guards to mess with.
