The City of Rocks RV offers wide-open mountain views at the entrance to the City of Rocks National Reserve. We provide partial hookups (water and electric 20/30/50), "Big Rig" pull-thru sites, Pioneer Bathrooms (rustic outhouse), and the beauty and seclusion of the Silent City of Rocks and the Almo Valley. Enjoy our new enclosed, leash-free, dog play area. We are conveniently located just outside the entrance to the Park on the City of Rocks Road. Big Rig access has always been limited in the City of Rocks so we made every site large with pull-thru access; 24 Pull-Thru RV Sites, 20 sites are 60'x35', 2 are 40'x35', 2 are 30'x35'. A public RV dump station is only one mile away. Whether you are here to climb, camp, hike, snowshoe, bird, fish, hunt, stargaze, relax, or all the above, we offer the ideal base camp. We newly opened in April of 2020 and as a result, we don't yet have mature shade trees and the landscaping is scattered with native grasses. We are continuously working on landscaping improvements to make your future stays even better. New for 2022, wind and shade fences for the tent areas. We hope to see you soon!

The stars at night are unbelievable — to be able to see the Milky Way from horizon to horizon was surreal! The owner Ross is friendly and clearly cares about his park. When the new trees are all grown up, this park will be even more wonderful!

This place just opened April 2020 so Google Maps doesn’t even show something is here.
Easy access to city of rocks. Large pull-thru sites. Water electric. No dump in campground but there is a dump station not too far from there.
Verizon didn’t work here but AT&T was OK

Solid RV park style place to set-up for exploring City of Rocks or Castle Rocks. Power, water, table at each site. Not much shade. Outhouses on site. Great cell service.

This was our first time visiting City of Rocks/Almo, and we chose this CG for it’s large sites and 50amp service… It was hot, and being able to use both ACs was a plus. The layout of this CG is a little weird with 24 pull-through sites, but half of the sites pull into the back of another site. So while I’m not sure how that would work if they were full, they weren’t when we visited. Sites are relatively long, and while the gravel is only about wide enough for the wheels, there is plenty of room to put slides out. Most of the sites will require some leveling blocks, but overall our site was easy to get in and out of. Privacy and spacing was fine during our stay, but we also didn’t have any neighbors, so your experience may vary. We enjoyed a really peaceful stay and had no use for our sound machine.
The park is still new, so there is some desert grass between sites, and they are working on adding some trees for shade and privacy. It also looks like they are building a small fenced in dog area, but for now, there was room enough to walk our dog around the park. Our W/E worked fine during our stay, and while there are outhouses we didn’t use them. There is no WiFi available at the park, and while we are normally fine using our Verizon, we had almost no service without the booster and an inconsistent 3G service with (winds made it hard to keep our booster up all the time). Also it’s a little weird that we didn’t notice it initially, but over the course of our stay it became obvious that the water had a distinct smell despite our standard RV water filter. We aren’t generally picky and usually use camp/’city’ water for everything, but we ultimately bought drinking water for the remainder of our stay.
The CG is conveniently located to City of Rocks, Castle Rocks, and the small town of Almo and there is a dump station down the road near the state park. Their nightly rate is $35, but if you stay 7 nights, they discount it to only paying for 6. I used their easy online booking website, and while the park is un-staffed, there is a self check-in/pay kiosk.

We reserved for 2 nights, but due to the fact that we could not exit or enter our RV without a half dozen flys coming in each time, we left rather than stay the 2 nights. We’d just conquer the first swarm just to have the next half dozen enter!
The campsites are not cared for or leveled after campers exit, and we found it very difficult to level our B+ van. We had to climb a stack of 4 ‘lego’ blocks for the right front tire, and 5 for the left front tire. 2 stars because we were thankful for the W/E hookups.
Bottomline, I would not recommend this campground.

We wanted a place to stay while exploring City of Rocks National Reserve. Since it was cool outside, we also wanted 50A power so we could run our heat pumps. City of Rocks RV met both of those needs. The campground was arranged pretty uniquely. The sites are setup as long pull throughs, but each pull through has two sites. That is, if the other site is empty, you have one pull through, but if it isn't, you will have someone right behind/in front of you. That is, one site ends up a back in and the other a back out. Weird. Anyway, the sites are plenty long, but not very level front to back. I needed blocks under the rear wheels. The campground is clean and there are new trees planted, so it will get better as they mature. I got an opportunity to talk to the owner. He was talking about getting gravel to level the sites. Our site was level side to side, but had a 10" drop from front to back. I carry lots of blocks so that wasn't a big problem for me, but be aware that the sites aren't very level front to back. The power was stable and caused no problems. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

This was campground was quite the gem to find! The only downside for our weekend was the late Memorial Day snow and rainy weather. This campground is situated right outside the entrance to City of Rocks National Reserve. There was plenty of space for our 45ft fifth wheel. 50 amp and water hookups! Dump station right across the street. GORGEOUS views right outside the door! We didn't use the pit toilets often, but the few times I did, they were spotlessly cleaned and had no smells. The campground owner was a wealth of information and was able to tell us the best places to visit around the area. No Verizon Service, but T-mobile had some. Starlink worked beautifully! No tree coverage! Will definitely be back! (Be careful if you come from the Utah border, you will be traveling on a dirt road for majority of your backroads)... City of rocks is well worth it though! What a gem!

This was our first night in an RV and Steve was very understanding, we arrived in the dark around 8pm and it was not an issue (we were alone).
When we woke up, what a stunning view ! Surrounded by mountains ! The park entrance is really really close !
We had a great night. It is quiet and peaceful.
As it was our first night we were not prepared at all (we were missing basics for cooking,…) so we left but otherwise we would have stayed for a few nights !
