“part of a growing quilt trail throughout Iowa”
Butler County is part of a growing quilt trail throughout Iowa. The Butler County Barn Quilt project continues to grow after a great start in 2007. Those who travel the roads of Butler County will be treated to a wide variety of colorful quilt blocks on barns and other farm buildings spread throughout the county. These blocks are a way to combine and draw attention to the area’s true agricultural heritage with our love of the art of quilting. It is good to note that although society has changed, the barn of today shelters the livestock and their needs as the quilt continues to warm the hearts and souls of the residents. The blocks have been chosen with care and attention to what the particular block means to the family as did the design of the barn at the time it was built many years ago.
