“Well known for its friendly hospitality”
The Alexandria Minnesota resorts area is well know for it's friendly hospitality, and for the many activities, stores, restaurants and services available to visitors. Once you've visited our area resorts in central Minnesota, whether it be at one of the many cabins, campgrounds rv parks, (most of our area rv parks and campgrounds have all full hookups at their sites), or other lodging facilities, we think that you'll want to come back again and again....you will understand that our slogan "Easy to get to, Hard to leave" is more than just a slogan. Visit for a camping trip, fishing vacation, family vacations, leisure cabin vacation, at one of our Minnesota lake resorts or just a "day trip", you'll be back, and your kids will probably carry on the traditional visit. Our lakes are well cared for, and watched by our DNR (department of natural resources) our lake associations, and also those that own resorts. The west central Minnesota lakes that need to be stocked with fish are done so when needed, so that we can keep the visiting fishing experts returning frequently. Water quality is also something that each lake is monitored for to keep them clean and clear for water sports and swimming. Big Foot Resort caters to guests with lodging choices, from our guest that prefer cabins (cottages), to those that bring their own trailers (campers or rvs) for the weekend, or come to be part of our seasonal rv park. Our Seasonal campground currently has 77 full hookup seasonal rv sites in use. It's getting more difficult to find a seasonal site in because of the declining number of Minnesota Resorts, but we do intend to be here for a while, and enjoy our extended family of camping enthusiasts. With either lake cabin rentals or an rv campgrounds rental we offer a free live bait choice. Minnesota family resort fishing on Lake Mary, one of the best Minnesota fishing lakes, is great for Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Northern Pike, and Walleye. We have our own boat launch and rental boats and pontoons, so when it's time for the Walleye opener (Minnesota fishing opener), you can either launch right away in the morning, or have your boat parked at one of our dock slips for a quick getaway. If the fish aren't biting, you can visit Alexandria for Saturday night NASCAR racing, some antique shopping, visiting a new restaurant, a winery, or go golfing at one of our local golf courses. We have a few to choose from, including a 18 hole mini golf course right here at Big Foot Resort, or the kids may just want to enjoy our playground or swim in one of our pools. We have one larger pool for swimming, and another for the little ones to wade in without the worry of others splashing, or the water being too deep for them. If you like biking, you'll love the paved bike trails that run through Alexandria. In the winter, our area has cross country skiing, downhill skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling on groomed snowmobiling trails. One snowmobile trail is accessible from the lake near Big Foot.
