“A Popular Spot for Camping”
Grass Point State Park is on a point of land that projects into the American Channel of the St. Lawrence River, known for some of the best fishing in the country. The park is a popular spot for campers and day-users, who come to boat, swim, fish, picnic, or just to relax. There is a marina and boat launch, an area is available for games, and the sandy beach and shallow water are excellent for children.Located on the west side of the beach is the Grass Point cottage, a full service accommodation. The two-story cottage has a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, cooking and eating utensils. Bedding, pillows and linen are also provided. The screened-in porch has some outstanding views of the river and sunsets.

The boat ramps weren't frantic the day we launched, and there seemed to be enough room for motorized boats and kayaks. Paddling the St. Lawrence River is a good time.
The campground is well-located to Clayton, NY, which is a gem of a little town. By the way, buy your groceries here.

We set up in the non-electric section, not a waterfront site but had a partial view of the river. Our spot is a large grassy area that's level and includes a picnic table and fire ring/grill. Large trees for late afternoon shade. We're here a few days before the 4th of July so the park is very busy, lots of families and groups. Nice little marina, beach and playground for the kids. Grounds are clean and maintained. Showers were ok, could have been cleaner, no trash cans in the bathrooms which is inconvenient & encourages people to be messy. A bit noisy since it's peak season & holiday time, but of course that's to be expected. Nice, easy in/out dump station and drinking water faucets are plentiful.

This was one of the prettiest campgrounds we have ever stayed at. Our site, 43, had a great view of the St. Lawrence river and there was a boat dock directly across from us that made for super easy river access. The campgrounds were very clean and well kept. The bathrooms and showers by the beach area were fantastic, the cleanest showers I have ever seen at a campground. There were plenty of water spigots through out the park and had two dump stations.
The first night we were there it was cold and raining so we got a electric site, number 70 for one day. For a 30 amp site it ran us $28 and did not have a good view of the river. The next morning we moved over to non electric site 43 for $21 a day. There is a $5 dollar a day out of state fee for non New Yorkers. There is also a $9 reservation fee if you reserve threw reserveamirica.com or a $2.75 reservation fee if you make your reservation at the office.
For boaters there is a boat ramp and around 10 docks to dock your boat at. There is a grocery store and gas station just 2 miles down the road if you need to stock up, you can also fill propane tanks there. Alexandrea Bay and Boldt Castle are about 7 miles away. Cell service was good as well. The only down side to this campground is it gets a bit busy by the boat dock and can be a bit noisy, but we still loved it. I would say site 45 is the best non electric site in the park without paying extra for a waterfront site.

We first stayed here at site 15 in 2000 with our first travel trailer.
It’s a small campground with lots of families & children.
We came for relaxation after our 44 night 7000 mile cross country trip.
It’s just as nice as we remembered.
There is a “new to us” pair of dump stations with potable water just past the toll booth at the entrance.
We stay in the non electric loop with more spacious sites. They have generator hours now: 9-11 AM, 5-9 PM.
You can hear them fire up on schedule, but it didn’t bother us.
There are a number of tent campers too.

(no hookups) is not on the map because it’s FCFS only. All spots are close to the lake, some are next to the lake. This site only has one other site next to it. We lucked out nabbing this spot on a weekend. The place was full but really quiet. Some sites have power but there are potable water spigots throughout. The bathhouses were really clean. Even though there’s a $5 fee for non-NY residents, it’s definitely worth the price. Because it’s a DEC state campground as opposed to a regular state campground, walkup reservations are allowed. Otherwise, you have to book online with a $7.50 reservation fee plus the out-of-state $5 fee which jacks the price up.

We stayed in site 24 (no hookups). While we weren’t right on the water, we had a nice view of the lake through the trees and between campers. The campground has lots of nice grass and many mature trees. The no-hookup loop sites are bigger and nicer than the electric sites. The bath houses are clean but dated. Fresh Water is available in several locations to fill your tank, and a dump station is near the entrance. The $25 nightly price includes an extra $7 charge for out of state campers.
