Except for a weekend, we had a large area to ourselves.
Posted sign says max stay 14. Totally free.
No far (in Montana terms) from Virginia CIty and other shopping too to the west.
Can dump at KOA for a fee. Also get water, probably also for a fee
There are NO formal parking areas, find a spot and stay. There are several roads down toward the reservoir from the highway. Scout out which one you want before you bring an RV down. Some are paved almost to parking.
Wind can be a problem, it is open and Montana.
I had to use a cell phone amplifier to use Verizon.

We were traveling through Montana and a friend recommended we stop to check it out. We got a perfect spot overlooking the reservoir (all spots have a great view of the water). We were there on a Monday and the place didn’t fill up. Lots of spots all over, but some roads were to bumpy for out 31’ class C. Many people had boats as there is a boat ramp there as well as Pitt toilets at the same end of the campground.

Plenty of sites lots for big rigs. Leveling is a small issue and a little windy but well worth the sites of Ruby Reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Also close to historic Nevada City and Virginia City both well worth the trip! Check out the Artisan Shop, first shop in the left when driving East into Virginia City, awesome my favorite shop! Oh and saw people panning for Garnets and finding them. We could not too steep to get to shore. Also we were there middle of week nice and quiet but we were told gets noisy on weekends, boat access and pit toilets.

Pit toilets are available. Spotty cell service in only one area so best if you don’t plan on having any. Multiple boat ramps. Large open area with random fire pits. Find one you like and camp. 16 day stay limit right on the reservoir. We will be going back. Roads in are fine. We live in a 38’ bus and occasionally tow our jeep.
