“Tells the story of the Flint River”
Located on the banks of the Flint River, the Flint RiverQuarium tells the story of the Flint River and the blue hole springs that helped create it. Visitors can experience the unique ecosystems of the Flint River watershed through a variety of interactive exhibits featuring more than 100 species of native aquatic life. A recent aviary addition also gives visitors a close-up look at a wide variety of birds found in the surrounding wetland habitat. Other ongoing programming, such as dive shows, alligator feedings and animal presentations, ensure that every visit has something new to offer.
I did not expect an awesome place like this in the middle of rural Georgia, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought we were in for a kitschy display of bass and catfish but the exhibits were really well done; featuring not only animals from the surrounding area but also numerous salt water fish. This would be a great activity for families or somebody on a lazy drive through Albany. Also a decent ice cram shop across the street if you're into that sort of thing.
