“A Private Members Hunting Lodge”
You wake up early, still half asleep… you have warm memories of sitting on the porch sipping a fine glass of red wine as the sun set. You were surrounded by the solitude of the prairie and mesmerized by one of the most beautiful lakes you have ever laid eyes on. Climbing out from under your goose down comforter, you open your blinds and realize what you thought was a dream is just another day at Sutton Bay. Our primary goal at Sutton Bay is to provide our members and guests with a higher level of service than expected. The main lodge at Sutton Bay is spacious, yet cozy. It sits 300 feet above Lake Oahe and is the focal point for all Sutton Bay activities. No need to sneak away for peace and quiet, there are many “special” nooks in the lodge, ensuring all members and guests have an opportunity to relax. The primary dining room and lounge feature large fieldstone fireplaces built from stone found on the ranch. The “grain elevator” is a unique portion of the lodge that is designed in the likeness of the grain elevators found across the prairies of South Dakota. Within the grain elevator is a private wine cellar and a second story “lookout bar” that offers some of the best views of the ranch. If you want to workout or just relax in the sauna, you can do both in the exercise room. For those who arrive without proper clothing or equipment, or for those who want a memento of their visit to Sutton Bay, a fully stocked Pro Shop is available. Comfortable, rustic yet refined, and well appointed are great adjectives used to describe the lodging at Sutton Bay. We have a variety of lodging opportunities available to accommodate our members and their guests. We feature 18 “single rooms”, each approximately 350 square feet, all featuring a covered patio with spectacular views, a wet bar, and a spacious bedroom with custom, handmade furniture. There are five 4-bedroom cabins on site, set along the ridgeline overlooking Sutton Bay, each with four bedroom/bathroom suites and a spacious common living area. This option is perfect for a foursome or four couples. We have six King Suites, each 600 sq. ft. appointed with a king bed, bathroom and a sitting area, complete with comfortable leather furniture. Several of these King Suites have sofa sleepers if desired. There are 44 beds total, assuring each member and guest the type of lodging which best suites their needs.
