Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on September 29, 2022We have stayed at this Army Corps campground multiple times when we lived in Atlanta. It is quite popular so you need to have reservations weeks in advance. They have lakefront sites as well as forest sites to choose from. The campground is HUGE and the variety of site is all over the place. Some are nice and level while others can be a bit sloped. I have found that the site length is pretty accurate while remaining level. If you are bigger than the recommended rig length you will be out of level.
Lake Allatoona is a popular lake with boaters so you did get quite a bit of watercraft noise at all times of the day and even night. Some campers will bring their boats and tie them up right next to their campsites, although weather may mean your boat could get damaged if you aren't careful. An active rail line is located right across from the campground which makes noise day and night. Downtown Atlanta is an easy 30-40 minute drive as long as you avoid rush hour. They do lock the gates at night which can be an issue given the size of the campground. There is a parking lot outside the gate, but you may have to walk a long distance to your site if you get locked out.
This is a good option if you want to enjoy the lake and visit Atlanta, but not if you are looking for park activities. Only water and electric are provided at each site but the dump station is easy to get to on the way out of the campground. The volunteer staff can get surly at times and the check in process can be painfully slow.

Great park. Only about 30% full on the nights we stayed 17 & 18 Dec. Host/attendant was super helpful. We didn't plan to, but arrived after sunset and the host led us to the site and gave me backing instructions. Site was level. Bathroom/shower rooms functional but we didn't use. Would go back.

We stayed at Clark Creek South (not North - there are two campgrounds but the north side is the only one listed here on Campedium) for one night on our way north to Tennessee. We knew nothing of the area, but the campground was in the right location for our stop, and we were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation for a Saturday night.
The entire campground is very nice. Sites are spread out, so you don't really have a neighbor right next to you, although there are a few weirdly placed sites (like the one next to ours) that some may not like. For example, there was another site right at the the drive entrance for our site, and a pop-up camper was there. They had little parking, so it could be an issue for someone with a rig bigger than ours when trying to back-in to #9. We saw a few other similarly placed sites, and the map doesn't really show it.
Our site however was clean, level, and had a gorgeous view of the lake.
The bath houses were okay, but up the steep road, and we didn't use them. The sandy beach area was a nice area to hang out for a cool swim.

If you’re only looking for a dump station, you will be turned away. Dump station is for reservation holders ONLY.
lovely campground on the lake - we enjoyed our visit here though we were just passing through.
camp host@gate very nice & helpful.
my only quarrel was with the site we were given: site 11. it was one of the most challenging sites to get into and not meant for our 25’ trailer. with over 1/2 the campground empty it was unbelievable that they assigned us this site. also i asked cassidy who booked us if there was any train noise and was told no....yes! there is train noise. other campgrounds close by had reviews mentioning train noise all night. and i wanted to avoid it since we are traveling hard to get to a family emergency.
the host was nice and had offered to move us since when we passed through the gate she realized how small and sloped the site was for us but she came 25 min later and we already had the levelers down and chocks in. site 11 power is not located near the water but up a hill. very odd layout.
we probably would stay at the south campground next time. she mistakenly put us here as well.
but we are not ones for trains so that is probably doubtful.

Paved sites and most are level but not all. Electric (50, 30) and water. Campground is wooded and on a lake. Most sites with water views. Quite and peaceful.
A few sites while great for shorter rigs, are too short for medium to long rigs. For example, our site #19 is a super site with a fantastic view, but was very difficult to maneuver our 26’ travel trailer into.
Attendant says the campground is open year round.
Would stay here again and recommend to others. Added to our favorites.

Check in was simple enough & the lady in the office was friendly. We were assigned site 22 for our 36 ft fifth wheel. As we were analyzing our spot, the lady from the office was coming after us on her golf cart. She wanted to let us know that her husband, who was in the office too, said he didn’t think our trailer would fit in that spot. She took my husband to look at another site but after looking at both my husband said we could get in site 22. Well we should have listened to the lady’s husband and gone to site 6. We got the trailer unhitched and was trying to adjust our jacks but the way the site was we couldn’t get our jacks down low enough for them to come back up! Ugh! My husband spent probably and hour working on our jacks. Once we got the jacks up we hitched back up to the truck and went to site 6. It wasn’t bad getting backed in to this spot just as long as you stay to the left of the sites, otherwise you will take a chance of testing your back Jack off or even your bumper. Once we got in the spot it was amazing!! Our back window and dining table looked onto the lake. We had a sunny site even though there were trees around us. Since it wasn’t in the summer, it was perfect. We could hear traffic noise as we were close to the entrance of the park but when you needed it to be quiet, bedtime, this was a non-issue
The site had a picnic table, a bbq grill and a fire pit and most were back-in, unless you have no slide outs.
I believe all have water and electricity but no sewer. Unless of course you are dry camping.

This campground was a small hidden gem that provided a welcome reprieve after 500 miles of driving! We arrived in the early afternoon. Check in was easy and the site was easy to find. The campground only has 24 sites so its fairly small. Do yourself a favor though and get a lake view, most are anyway. Ours was perfect with a view of the lake, trees for our hammocks and a deck to pull up our RV next to!
Now down to brass tax...we had to use a couple blocks for our site but it wasn't terribly unlevel. It was a back in and the pavement was a little narrow to my liking considering it was on a hill.
Signal was ok, we used our T-Mobile hotspot and it worked just fine.
Bathrooms were not too bad. Relatively clean, but not the cleanest or nicest we've been to.
The only problem we had which was our first time having this issue were sugar ants crawling up our wheel wells and into the RV, fun times! For anyone who needs this tip, we put a line of campfire ash around the wheels and on the power and waterlines since ants don't like to walk over powder. Baby powder and diatomaceous earth apparently work too. A spray of vinegar and lemon juice helps kill the ants on contact and clear any paths they made.
Overall...a nice quiet recharge before we hit the road again.

We stayed four nights while visiting friends outside of Atlanta. Corp or Engineer property, so no sewer. Sites are on hills and in valleys. We made it in there with our 41 foot FW, but it was iffy. Sites on Allatoona 'river', but they drain it in the winter-we were there in January. They LOCK the gate at 10pm sharp. One night we had to park outside the gate (on the road) and walk in to our site when it was 29F. Good for small rigs and for spring-autumn. Great for fishing!
