Avalon Fishing Pier

Located in Kill Devil Hills, this fishing pier is a great spot to catch local seafood. The pier is open from 5:00 am - 2:00 am during the summer months. In the Spring and Fall, we open at 6:00 am and close when it slows down,usually before 10:00 pm. The Pier is 696 feet. We found out the hard way. We had one of our co-workers go out and count all the spaces between the deck boards from the beginning of the pier to the end. Well, he had his head down counting the slits one by one, ever so careful not to miss one. Unfortunately, when he came to the end he didn't look up and flipped over the railing into the water below. The moral of the story: When you're out of slits, you're out of pier.
