Triphammer Falls is unique in that it's right on the campus of Cornell University in the middle of the city, with the ruins of a laboratory built around it. Triphammer Falls got their name from the Triphammer Forge which operated in the area in the 1820's. It's made up of two drops.
Cascadilla Creek drops 400 feet from campus to downtown Ithaca, carving through bedrock - shales, siltstone and sandstone - exposing sedimentary rocks that were deposited 400 million years ago. Look for ripple marks on the rock surface, which once was the muddy floor of an ancient ocean.
Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca, New York, is the North American Seat of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Open to all, Namgyal offers authentic teachings of Tibetan Buddhism in a traditional monastic setting. An interesting visit I think.

Go around behind the building and following a trail to Denison Falls. The treehouse is six stories with plenty to explore. There are nearby benches and a good view of the waterfall. The treehouse was a big hit.

This place was a delightful surprise. My kids had a blast swimming all around this waterfall. The park is understated. Once you park, there is a short hike up a trail that opens up to this beautiful falls. Great place for all ages. If you have water shoes, bring them!
"Welcome to New York's ultimate hidden gem- Watkins Glen State Park! The main feature of this exceptionally lovely natural area is the natural, 400-foot gorge running through the park, carved out by a babbling creek.
