Twice we've driven coast to coast through the US. In 2011 from California to Boston via de I-70 and I-80. And then in 2015 from DC to San Francisco on the I-60. This time around we wanna further paint the map and go north from SF, then go east over the I-90, then down, and take the I-10 back.
Or as we like to say: we're gonna do a bit of a drive.

Twee keer zijn we al van kust naar kust door de VS gereden. In 2011 vanuit California naar Boston via de I-70 en I-80. En toen in 2015 vanuit DC naar San Francisco over the I-60. Dit keer willen we de kaart verder invullen en vanuit SF naar het noorden gaan, dan de I-90 naar het oosten, dan naar beneden en de I-10 terug.
Of zoals we zeggen: we gaan een stukje rijden.

We had lunch in Loose Caboose Cafe in Willits today. Fun, quirky place with good sandwiches. Heads up: they're cash only!
We hebben vandaag geluncht in Loose Caboose Cafe in Willits. Een grappig boeiend tentje met goeie broodjes. Opletten: ze accepteren geen credit cards, dus zorg dat je contact geld hebt!
Grandfather tree is an 1800 year old redwood tree. It's right off the side of the road, so well worth a quick stop.
De Grandfather Tree (opaboom) is een redwood van 1800 jaar oud. De boom ligt vlak naast de doorgaande weg, dus: even stoppen voor een foto!
This alternate route takes you through 32 miles of Redwood forest, then dumps you back onto the 101 to continue your trip as if nothing happened. Incredibly scenic, so you really owe it to yourself to take this "detour".
Deze alternatieve route voert je door ruim 50 kilometer Redwood-bos, om je vervolgens weer netjes op de 101-snelweg af te zetten. Vreselijk mooi, dus doe jezelf een plezier en neem deze "omleiding".
Hotel in walking distance of old downtown, the waterfront, and the Carson Mansion.
Beautiful Victorian mansion, although to some it resembles a haunted mansion. It reminds me of Disneyland ;) You can only enjoy the outside unless you're a member of the Ingomar Club. Or take a peek at the Ingomar Club site. Also check out the Pink Lady right across the street.
A fantastic boardwalk amongst the redwood trees in the Sequoia Park Zoo. Highly recommended, with a very Star Wars like feel to it at times.

The inside of Golden Harvest Herban Farm looks nothing like you'd expect from the outside. But their food is home made and delicious, and highly recommended.
Van binnen ziet Golden Harvest Herban Farm er compleet anders uit dan je op basis van de buitenkant zou verwachten. Maar het eten is zelfgemaakt en erg lekker, en dus hoog aanbevolen.
