This is our Plan B trip, if I can't get our passports renewed in time to go to Canada
Leave on 7/31, which gives us a day and two nights to transition from Danny's house and emotionally prepare ourselves for our trip. OR, we could skip having a "home" day and get an extra vacation day
From Medford - Route 62 north and then east. From Klamath Falls - Route 97 north to Route 62 north and then west., OR, US
I figured two nights at Crater Lake, because they are picky about dogs and it might take up a little bit of time to figure out how we can see the lake even though we have dogs.
Ashland, Oregon, United States
Ashland is cute. We don't need to stay overnight if we don't want to, but it's a nice place to stop at a bakery or a picnic
2101 Northeast Spalding Avenue, Grants Pass, OR, United States
Danny and I camped at Mt. Shasta when we moved to Portland from San Francisco. When we woke up, there was a wildfire and we drove for hours in thick smoke. We had never seen anything like that before and at first we thought it was fog!
San Francisco, California, United States
Yay! San Francisco! It is so beautiful and there is a lot to do. This is where NOT having the dogs would be better, but there is plenty we can do outside, or maybe we can hire a dogsitter for a day or two. I figured 3-4 days in San Francisco, and we can stack.
Mendocino, California, United States
I looooove Mendocino! It's on the coast, which is stunning to drive up and see. It's a small, sunny artsy town. Just one night.
Two hours on the way north. Just a place to stop and see ginormous redwoods
We can't not stay at a KOA, right? One night.
I do know that they have dog kennels at this place. Remind me to pack a lock!
Newport, Oregon, United States
We can stop at or stay at the coast if you guys want, or stay somewhere else, or head home.
Just two weeks, and only about two days of longish drives
