Check that the road is open before we go up there. Get close to the weather at kunanyi / Mount Wellington’s airy Pinnacle. The distinctive dolerite columns known as the Organ Pipes create a distinctive shape to the face of the mountain making it impossible to visit Hobart and not be awestruck by kunanyi/Mount Wellington. 1271m above sea level.

The bronze sculpture of a dog denotes the Dog Line, where a row of savage snarling beasts deterred escapes during the convict era in colonial times, ferocious dogs guarded the isthmus. They were intended to ensure no convicts escaped the Port Arthur penal settlement.
