This route takes you up the Columbia to I-5 where you take in Mount St Helens and then Mt Rainier. It avoids the Seattle and suburbs traffic and gives you a much more scenic drive than just up I-5. The other option is to stay on HWY 101 to Aberdeen and then go east and hook up with I-5. The beaches in Washington are long sandy beaches that you can drive on, but they are very much like the beaches you see in the east coast. That is why I am not taking you that way - but you may choose to do that anyway. The route I suggest will take you into two national Parks and you would have to pay entrance fees to get in. Again I have included attractions, hikes and eating locations you can choose from.
