My Epic Road Trip

Take This Trip

Created by dawnmiller2 - July 9th 2016

We've been married for nearly seven years and have two small children. Like most American families, we work hard and make very little time for vacation. We are more and more aware of how fast time goes with every passing day. Our boys are growing quickly, and our time as a "family" will come to an end all too soon. I want my kids to have all the experiences they possibly can before they become adults and are thrust into the real world.

My Epic Road Trip consists of places my husband and I have loved together and separately, as well as places we would love to experience for the first time together.

Legoland® Florida Water Park

Most people dream of going to Disney but I have always wanted to go to Legoland! I don't care for rides and rollercoasters. And my kids are the perfect age for Legos right now. This would very literally be fun for the whole family!

I actually saw this location in the Roadtripper email this morning. I decided to add it to my trip because it's simply gorgeous!! and I'm sure after a long, hot trip to Legoland this would be a great place to relax before taking off of across the country.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States

Yellowstone was chosen by my husband. He's really excited to see the National Parks and to take our kids. We've taken two road trips with each of our kids, which have both been to Southeastern areas of the country. I can't wait to see what the West has to offer!

I added San Francisco simply because I've heard how beautiful it is from so many people. I've never been to California - aside from in an airport - so I feel like this would be a great first experience. I'd also love for my boys to see the Pacific Ocean now that they've seen the Atlantic.

If you're going to road trip across the country you have to see Vegas, right? My family used to make regular trips when I was in college. I was the designated house and pet sitter so I never got to go. I'm not much for gambling or night life, but I've also heard from many people that Vegas can be just as fun for families! And I have friends there, so I'd love to pop through on our trip.

The Grand Canyon National Park

My husband and I honeymooned in Arizona in 2009. I LOVED it (despite catching a desert fungus) and would love to go back, even if just for a quick visit to show the kids the canyon.

This was my husband's idea. Men and their aliens, amiright??

I've been to Nashville once and absolutely loved it! But as with so many places in the world you really can't see all there is to see in one short trip. So, on my way home I would love to visit again. Eat the food, hear the music, see the mountains... One last awesome thing to share with my family before we head home.

My five year old is always asking to visit the places he sees on TV. I always respond with "Hopefully someday!" Every parent has a dream for their kids and mine is that they will be able to experience as much of the world as possible. I believe a love for travel starts when you're young. This is the perfect opportunity to get them addicted and learn that there's so much more out there than our own backyard!
