I'm a climber, through and through. Most people don't know what that means. Yes, it means adventure, but more importantly, it means an appreciation for nature and the privilege to be a part of it.
This road trip is designed to move through some of the most epic and inspiring landscapes the country has to offer which also happen to be Meccas for the vagabond climber.
While I'm a climber through and through I've struck a stage in life where saving and building for the future has crept it's way into my lifestyle. I now work 40-60 hours a week and dream of road trips that inspire and enable my passion. What you see on this map is a snapshot of that adventure
Home base, starting off in Denver makes sense. I live here because it's as close as I can be to my passion and still support a healthy lifestyle. I'll launch from here up into the wilderness of Wyoming.
Laramie, the first stop a few hours to the north. The wide crack of Veadawoo that sit above the town of Laramie offer a special type of scary, hard and old school climbing.
Ten Sleep, Wyoming, United States
Ten Sleep is a tiny town of 260 and a haven for climbers looking to get away from the crowds in the CO front range. Here cool summers, large limestone cliffs and raw adventure rule.
Swinging west out of TenSleep will start to bring me into new territory. I haven't climbed much around SLC but know it's one of the prize cities in the US for us climbers. I figure spending some days to get to know the locals and explore close by areas will be important.
Zion National Park, Utah, United States
Zion... holy big red walls line this amazing national park. I want to sleep, eat, climb and be a part of these wall's amazing history.
Red Rocks, rocks! Or so I hear, I've never been, but this would be one of the highlights of the trip, while the goofyness of the strip can provide entertainment when I'm not out dancing my way up the amazing red cliffs.
Yosemite National Park, California, United States
Mecca. Need I say more, this iconic destination holds some of the largest climbing challenges in the world. I want my chance.
Bend reminds me of home... NC home that is, nestled away a town of 80K loves everything outdoors that they can get their hands on.
SLC otw back, just for pit-stop sake... Okay and maybe a little more climbing.
Finally, back home and back to planning for the next adventure.
Epic road trips come in all shapes and sizes, this one is big, bad to the bone and covers some of the most beautiful areas in the US.
