“Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It’s enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.” -Claude Monet
It always seems that there is never enough time in the day to see and do all the things you want to. My epic road trip only touches on 4 states but allows you to witness the breathtaking beauty that is the West. Begin your journey in New Mexico with a fun fiesta, then off to Arizona to witness one of the world's seven wonders, drive through Utah to try to pick a favorite sight, and end your trip seeing the fall foliage in Colorful Colorado.
Begin this road trip to the West in the Fall so you have the chance to discover just how beautiful the Autumn can be. The locations marked in this trip serve as a general map outline of which direction to head into next. This trip is meant to be filled with a little bit of everything.. scenic landscapes, outdoor activities, nightlife entertainment, curious attractions and of course no trip would be complete without some typical touristy shopping.
The best thing about this road trip is all the random little things and places you will see on your journey. The idea is to plan to get a little taste of each state while still letting your adventurous side take over. So pick and choose! There are lots of sights you can witness! There will be plenty of accommodations and attractions along the way that you will always have something to see and do.
On your mark, get set, GO! Leaving the beach in the East in the off season to check out the Autumn beauty in the West.
Kick off your Autumn adventure with this annual whimsical festival, The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! The festival runs the first week in October and it truly is a sight to see.
Make your way into Arizona to see one of the Natural Wonders of the World. If you don't already have the Grand Canyon on your bucket list, add it now! Words will never do the actual place justice. This is just a wonder you'll have to see with your own eyes.
Start driving your way through Utah's natural landscapes. Perhaps you've never heard of the Bonneville Salt Flats, but it is certainly a place to see. It is one of the most unique natural features in Utah, stretching over 30,000 acres and access is free!
Another beautiful natural landscape to witness is Arches National Park located in Moab, Utah. The park contains over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch. The park is also home to a variety of unique geological resources and formations.
So you've made it to Colorful Colorado! Lots of interesting places to see, perhaps one of the coolest is Hanging Lake in Glenwood Springs. A hike up a mountain leads you to a beautiful lake tucked into the side of a mountain. If you happen to be a fan of the Legend of Zelda, you'll feel like you've jumped inside the game after witnessing this quaint landscape.
You've seen so much of the natural outdoor beauty in the West, now take the time to enjoy some of that city nightlife! Denver is filled with plenty to do from different museums to visit, places to go shopping and a variety of dining options.
End your epic road trip with an epic concert at one of the best venues in the country, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. This geological phenomenon provides for the most perfect acoustic performances. This open air amphitheater isn't just meant for amazing concerts. Red Rocks Park also offers a variety of recreation options from guided tours, hiking, biking, shopping and dining. Witnessing a concert here will have you saying "this one's for the books!"
The only rule for this road trip is to remember to relax and enjoy yourself. Be adventurous! Go where your heart tells you.
So here's to letting the beautiful things find you!
