The purpose of this trip is to pick up furniture from my Pop's house in Martinsville. He passed away in January and Dad and Linda are emptying his and Ma's home. I'm looking forward to sharing my childhood hometown with my loving family.

Next you will see Patrick Henry Mall. This is where one of my best friends parents owned my favorite Chinese restaurants. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed when YenPing's dad was charged with tax evasion. YenPing was sent to Maryland to an all girl's boarding school. I have not had any contact with her.

1st drive by is the house I lived in from 2 weeks old until my 9th birthday. I will point out my neighbors homes and tell you about the water tower.

This is the elementary school I went to. YenPing lived closed by here but I don't remember what street. I seem to remember she lived at the top of the hill in a house on the left as you leave the school but that memory could be inaccurate. I haven't been to her house since I was in second grade. Anyway, my favorite teacher at Patrick Henry was my 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Thornton. I had Ms. Steele for 3rd grade and me, Mom, and Lisa moved from here on 12/31 of my 3rd grade year. The school I went to after New Years was Shiloh Elementary in Monroe.

This is where I attended Kindergarten. I went 2 years because of my size. My pediatrician felt I needed to grow more before I went to elementary school. They introduced me to cooked cabbage. They also served peanut butter and honey sandwiches (my fav-no jelly please) with chicken noodle soup. That is still one of my favorite combinations today!!

This is where I attended church. One summer (I think I was 11 or so) I worked at a soup kitchen here during the month I was spending with my Dad. It was a lot of work but very fun. It is an experience I will never forget.

Barbara's bakery... would you like some bagel with your cream cheese? This was a wonderful department store.

I started dance lessons here when I was 4? maybe 5? I wish you could go inside... I will never forget the smell.
