Brought to you by our friends at DogVacay!
For some dog owners, the hassle of finding a good pet sitter and making sure that they know the drill can really make a vacation stressful. But whether you're using DogVacay to quickly and easily find a guaranteed, reliable pet sitter, or you'd rather bring your beloved four-legged friend along with you, choosing the right bed and breakfast can make the experience a lot more relaxing.
If you do bring Fido, it's important that you find a B&B that not only accomodates pets, but loves them just as much as you do. We've compiled this list of some of the best pet-friendly bed and breakfasts in the country so that you won't find yourself in the doghouse on your next trip, with or without your pet!
Wentworth Mansion: It's pretty awesome that one of Charleston's grandest old houses has been turned into an incredibly opulent bed and breakfast that also happens to welcome pets! As they put it, "Our love of pets is a time-honored Charleston tradition, so if your dogs want to get in on the luxury, please bring them along!" They've got a gorgeous courtyard to walk your furry friends in, and since they love animals so much, they're more than willing to point you towards the best dog parks and pet shops!
Inn on Columbia: Several different properties are encompassed within this B&B, and each is more stunning than the last-- this is the Finger Lakes, after all! All of the accomodations are lovely, but the pet-friendly Blue Room in the Columbia Street house is spacious and modern-- and there's a huge plush bed, perfect for cuddling up with your dog after a long day of exploring the adorable little town of Ithaca.
Carmel Country Inn: Big Sur is absolutely breathtaking... and to be able to walk your dog to the beach from your B&B is a dream come true-- especially when they've got a mini shower so you can hose your dog off after they romp around on the sand. The rooms are cozy and they've got a jacuzzi and a perfectly delicious breakfast. Plus, they greet you at the door with cookies and dog treats, and even make an extra effort to remember your name as well as your pets' names-- aww!!
Dog Bark Park Inn: All the B&Bs on this list are dog-friendly, but not all of them are actual dogs. Yep, you and your puppy can stay the night in this one-of-a-kind, dog-shaped guesthouse (if you were curious, the B&B dog and the smaller, 12-foot dog statue both have names: Sweet Willy is the inn and Toby is the statue). Naturally, the interior continues the dog-themed decor, and they'll leave you and your pet treats on your pillow. Even if you aren't planning to spend the night, it's still worth it to stop by for the photo op, and to buy one of their hand-carved wood dog figurines!
O'Casey's Bed & Breakfast: The wraparound porch, clawfoot tubs, and huge windows all make this bed and breakfast the perfect place to experience that old-school Texas charm, and the fact that it's just outside the city (but still a short drive, no more than a few minutes, to downtown San Antonio) makes it the perfect place for your pet to feel right at home-- imagine taking your dog on an after-dinner walk through the adorable neighborhood!
Garden House Bed and Breakfast: The location right in the heart of the little, historic town of Hannibal, Missouri is ideal for both pets and their humans. There are several parks within walking distance, including dog parks where pets can run free, and tons of historical sites and shops to explore. The B&B itself is a gorgeous old Victorian with a lovely garden, soft beds, and incredibly accomodating hosts.
Inn At Cherry Creek: When booking a stay here, ask for the "Pampered Pet Package"! It'll get your and your pooch a great room, treats, a dog bed, pet dishes and Voss water, and more. And did I mention that they're right around the corner from Two Pals and a Pup? It's one of Denver's best pet shops... so definitely pamper your puppy even more with a homemade treat or a toy!
