Remember that time you had a big garage sale before you moved so you wouldn’t have to lug all your unused junk to your new pad? Shelby American Inc. & Carroll Shelby Museum is having a moving sale of its own, only the junk happens to be one-of-a-kind prototypes like a 50th anniversary Shelby Cobra and a 2010 Shelby Super Snake concept Mustang… Shelby American’s new digs off the Las Vegas strip don’t have as much space as their old spot at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, so they say 14 ultra-valuable Shelby concept cars must go, and some have even already sold.
The price tags will astound you. From least expensive to most expensive:
2013 Shelby Focus Concept: $50,000
This Shelby Focus concept car was featured at the 2013 Detroit auto show and on the Shelby Road Tour with it’s 260HP turbocharged and inter-cooled 2.3 liter 4-cylinder engine. The car rides on 18-inch Michelins being stopped by custom Wilwood brakes, all connected to an Eibach suspension. The interior and exterior both got a hydro-dip styling treatment. It can all be yours for $50,000. (Which has to make this one of the most expensive Focuses on the road…)
2011 Shelby GTS Concept: $99,000- SOLD
Shelby has been doing Mustangs for years, but this Shelby GTS Mustang is the first ever to be built using a supercharged V-6 in lieu of the normal V-8s Shelby is so well-known for. With a six-speed manual and 475HP, this V-6 will still scream. (As in 12.8 seconds in the quarter mile!)
2013 Shelby Raptor Concept: $125,000
How do you make an already awesome truck more awesome? Add a supercharger. Combine the extra power with upgraded shocks and styling accents and you get one of the coolest Ford-150 SVT Raptors around.
2011 Shelby Super Snake Prototype: $125,000- SOLD
When the Mustang got a makeover in 2011, Ford unveiled a new aluminum-block 5.4 liter supercharged V-8, and this car was the prototype for the Super Snake performance kit buyers could purchase from Shelby to really go overboard with their new Mustang.
2012 Shelby GT350 Prototype: $125,000- SOLD
One of 3 GT350 prototypes built for the 2011 Chicago auto show, this GT350 is a beast with a 525HP 5.0 liter V-8. You probably recognize this particular car from multiple Shelby promo materials.
2012 Shelby GT350 Prototype: $140,000- SOLD
Shown along side its sister car above, this red one has more horsepower thanks to different drivetrain upgrades, thus the bigger price.
2013 Shelby GT350 Prototype: $150,000
If you want to stand out, this green GT350 will do the trick. If you want to go fast, it’ll do that too with a 642HP supercharged V-8.
2013 Shelby GT350 Prototype: $150,000
Although used as a track demonstrator, Shelby assures buyers this GT350 is still mechanically sound, and for $150,000 it better be.
2010 Shelby Super Snake Concept: $175,000
This car was used to premier the Super Snake model, and with its 750HP from a 5.4 liter supercharged V-8, we’ll be the first to say this really is a super snake…
2012 Shelby GTS Wide Body Prototype: $175,000
The first wide body conversion for the 2010 Mustang body-style, this light blue GTS has a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter, upgraded brakes, and a custom interior.
2007 Shelby GT Prototype: $175,000
Used as a Ford promotional car for the Shelby GT, this GT is the first production car of its year to have a wide body kit. The car’s drivetrain, however, is fairly mild with a 319HP version of the 4.6 liter V-8 used in the 2007 Ford Mustang GT.
2011 Shelby Super Snake Prototype: $200,000
Although similar to the other Shelby Super Snake for sale, this car gets an added bump in value for being featured on Velocity with Carroll Shelby himself.
50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra: $200,000- SOLD
When the Shelby Cobra turned 50, Shelby America built 50 anniversary cars with special badging throughout and a gorgeous black and wine exterior/interior color combo.
Shelby Cobra Demonstrator/Development Vehicle: $200,000- SOLD
Originally built as a 289FIA-spec race car, Shelby later got the car back and used it as a demonstration and development vehicle. The originally 302 was swapped out with a supercharged 5.8 liter V-8.
