“Jenga block-like buildings!”
The Interlace is a 1000-unit apartment building complex in Singapore designed by OMA and Ole Scheeren. It is noteworthy for its design which looks like 31 bricks irregularly stacked upon each other, resembling Jenga blocks. It was named World Building of the Year at the 2015 World Architecture Festival. Located on the corner of Depot Road and Alexandra Road, the complex is about 170,000 square meters on 8 hectares of land. Interlace has 31 apartment blocks that has total of 1,040 units ranging in size from 800 square feet to 6,300 square feet for the penthouses at the top of each housing blocks. The complex has recreational facilities such as swimming pools, gym, tennis courts, basketball court, children playgrounds, karaoke rooms and tables for pool billiards, all to serve the residents.
