- Schaumburg was named after an area in Germany by settlers who were from that region. There were no actual Schaumburg's in the town when it got its name in the mid 1800's.
- Schaumburg contains the world headquarters of Motorola Solutions and one of only two IKEA stores in Illinois.
- By 1870, Schaumburg Township had become completely German. Land records show that most of the property in the township was owned by German immigrants or their descendants.
- The Woodfield Mall which opened on September 9, 1971, is the 11th largest mall in the country.
