- The film, “Anatomy of a Murder,” dramatizes a 1952 murder that happened in the Marquette area. Subsequently, it was partially filmed in the Marquette County Courthouse as well as Big Bay.
- Originally called New Worcester, the name was changed to honor Jacques Marquette, the French Jesuit missionary who had explored the region, in 1850.
