Lowell is a city in Massachusetts about 40 minutes northwest of Boston. With over 105,000 residents, it's the fourth largest city in Massachusetts, and has an important historical background. It was the first planned industrial city in the United States.

- Incorporated in 1826, Lowell became known as the cradle of the American Industrial Revolution, and many of the city's historic sites have been preserved by the National Park Service.
- In the 1970s, Lowell became home to thousands of new immigrants, many from Cambodia, following the genocide at the hands of the Khmer Rouge.
- The softdrink Moxie was invented in Moxie in 1876, and claimed to cure illnesses.
- Bette Davis, an actess who went on to be the first person nominated for 10 Academy Awards
