When looking for campsites, we generally stay away from RV parks, but this RV park and campground was definitely worth the extra cost. We arrived on a Tuesday and after a short, but steep drive up to the campground, we were thrilled that the photos from their website were accurate as to the view from the sites that line the ridge. We reserved a site that was toward the end of the grounds.

While the set up of the park is that of an RV park, with the spots right next to each other, the angle of our airstream was such that our campsite felt private. Plus, when you have 180 degree panoramic views of the Pacific mountain range from your camp chairs there isn't much you can complain about. The RV sites offer full hook-ups and slow, but available free wi-fi. There are tent sites too that are farther back from the ridge in a wooded area with clean bathrooms and showers sprinkled around the grounds.

The campground is located about 10 miles from Whistler Village and there are plenty of hiking trails and lakes nearby.

Definitely our favorite site yet!

Stunning views across the valley but further from Whistler than we realized (about 20 minutes). Not that big a deal and actually proved to be nice because it meant we were closer to Squamish.
Also they have a great frisbee golf course and a wiffle golf course which were both pretty fun!
They do charge $10/day for WiFi but the plus side is it’s really fast a reliable so you get what you pay for.

Dan & Jaclyn are world travelers, having kicked the dirt in over 100 countries and sailed within all 7 seas. Currently, we are full-time, location independent, perpetual travelers, roaming around North America.

We have chosen the Whistler RV Park & Campground due to its proximity to Whistler Ski Resort (5 miles)

WHAT OTHERS ARE LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE
Arriving on a blu-bird day, the skies as well as the roads were clear. That said, to obtain access to this campground, you must be sure your rig, whatever the size is able to negotiate the paved, switchback road. The website and reviews to this campground, do make that very clear. During dry conditions, the road is appropriate for any rig of any size.

Our arriving during winter months means not only our arrival, but also our planned departure day, the road must be clear of snow and ice and therefore capable of handling our 50-feet of bone crushing metal.

Arriving to the campground, we discovered this to be a heavily weighted campground towards snowmobiles. The sleds are able to access the trail network fringe from your camping spot. Although the campground was considered full during our stay, we did not see all that many people. Meaning the campground primarily rents out moots its spots to the sled owners for the entire season. They must have been home during our stay:)

Their business model not necessarily postponed for our BiG RiG showing up for a quick weekend stay, we found the campground had pretty much let the snow get the best of them. Meaning the snow was heavily encroaching on the roadways that looped the campground making it incredibly narrow, leaving little to no room for error in regards to our BiG RiG. The individual sites were worse off and to avoid disaster later, we decided we could just dig ourselves into our space (see Photo)

They did have 30/50 amp services. Surprisedly, they also had running water and an operating sewer at our site as well. They had carried them under the picnic table and piles with snow for insulation. so, we did have to did it out ourselves, but what great planning!

Additionally, they have closed all but one of the bathhouses. They do have a location for your trash and AT&T was more than adequate up here without boost. That said if you need internet, they do charge you daily.

SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Now, to be clear, there was a closer RV Park to Whistler, so close, we may have been able to walk. No, not really, but you get the point. The reason we chose to stay here, although the challenges were the ability to perch the BiG RiG on a cliff edge space, with an unobstructed view. Although we had navigation challenges within the campground, and had to shovel ourselves into our space, the rewards were the afternoon Alpena-glow. Then there was the twinkling of the evening lights of Whistler Village.

Although our review has a positive tone, its the challenges the entry road may pose to others, the lack of professional snow services, and the inability to pull into a useable site without our having to clear it ourselves that we give the rating that we do.

The only thing this park has going for it is the view from the back sites. Pros - Views from the back sites and it's quiet. Cons - 20-25 sites are not well kept from permanent residents; Placement of the utilities on the back middle sites leave the RV's facing trees rather than the mountains; water pressure is low; front office never answers the phone (even in cases of an emergency); only one trash can and its located at the very front near the office. We camped here in a 40' MH w/ toad and will not be a returning customer

When we booked a trip up to Banff and Jasper earlier this year, we booked this campground thinking it was in the Whistler area at Jasper. Only later did we realize it is in B.C rather than Alberta. When I called back to cancel they said they would have to keep one night's deposit plus something called a "lock fee" (???). There are reviews on TripAdvisor complaining of the same thing.

There is nothing on their website home page or booking page warning about this common mistake. The email receipt does mention it, but by then it's too late. I believe they take advantage of this confusion to hoard deposits, knowing that no one is going to show up if they plan to go to Banff and Jasper.

It is interesting to note that after we cancelled our trip to Alberta due to the coronavirus, all of the other 26 campgrounds returned our deposits with no questions asked.

Check out this campground again after they change management or ownership!

We picked this over the one in town because it has more room to navigate and open ski views for satellite TV and starlink - we are still working full time. And the views are AMAZING as you are on a ridge facing north towards the ski resort. It was about a 15 minute ride to town but there is hiking, biking, ATV from the campground and closer by too. We drove through the campground in town and it was tight with many tree obstructions, but has much better access to town and trails. It seemed more of a KOA type place. Next time we go back, maybe we would split time between the two? Whistler is a great spot and although we were there during a very wet spring, the trails held up really well and lots of stuff to do in that area: great restaurants, hiking, biking, bungee jumping, gondola rides, skybridge, etc. Definitely gong back!
