More expensive than we're used to, but given the amenities, it was a nice splurge.
We stayed in RV site 105 which was a long and level gravel pad. Hookups were conveniently located. No issues with sewer or electricity, but the whole park lost water a few times during our stay. Our family stayed in cabins KT1 and KT2, both of which were ready at the stated check-in time and very clean with an excellent view of the river. KT1 is dog-friendly and has its own fenced-in dog yard!
The pool and restroom/shower facilities were in great shape and also very clean. The camp store was nice and carried all the last-minute essentials. All staff that we spoke to were super friendly and welcoming. The brick oven pizza and meals from the snack stand were all delicious but seemed way overpriced. I guess the convenience of having it right there on-site makes it worth the extra expense. At the time of our stay, we were able to rely completely on the campground to provide the food for our vacation. However, I imagine that the food option hours vary seasonally and weren't really posted anywhere. We recommend asking the office staff for the current hours of food outlets to confirm when they will be open. Off-property grocery stores, gas stations and dining options are not far away in the village of Herkimer.
Tubes to float down the creek are available for purchase in the shop and the in and out points to the creek were clearly marked, so you can drop in at the north end of the campground, then get out on the south end all without ever leaving the property.
Across the street, the diamond mine experience was kind of fun, but I'd consider it more of a quarry than a mine...it was pretty much a huge rock pit in the blazing sun, but we found some Herkimer "Diamonds" and thought it was a unique experience. The kids had fun sluicing for gemstones, of which there were many in the bags of dirt purchased from the shop.

We were surprised at how tight each space was at this site. Beautiful river views but no space or privacy between us and our neighbors. Difficulty backing trailer into site because it was narrow and fence made it hard to maneuver. Facilities are clean and convenient. Minimum of 8 miles drive to groceries and restaurants. We only stayed one night on our travels Would not go back because we prefer more privacy and space.
No ATT or Verizon coverage.

As with most KOAs the sites were a little tight. Having a site right on the river was a big plus. Walk to great river tubing. Clean and well maintained campground.

This KOA renewed our faith in KOAs. Campground (CG) was easy to find and check in was easy. We were then escorted to FHU back-in site 69 with 30 AMP. We received a 5% military discount as retired veterans. Our escort helped us back in and we were ready to enjoy our overnight stay. We were in one of the sites along the river and since it was mid October there were not many campers in the CG. Our closest neighbor was five sites down where the 50 AMP hookups were. The four 50 AMP river sites were filled. Since the weather was cool, we didn’t need 50 AMP and would rather have the site separation as the river sites from 50 AMP down through tent sites were very close together. The 50/30 AMP were laid so that every other one is back-in for trailers and pull in for motor coaches to take advantage of the river view. That would mean some very cozy fires with your neighbor. There were premium tent or popup sites along the river with gas BBQs. There were plenty of amenities here (explore their website) to include a nice campground store and themed cabins. The WiFi and cable TV worked very well. We received 3 bars on Verizon and 2 on AT&T. There’s a convenience store that served ice cream right up the road in Middleville with gas and reasonably priced dieselWe would definitely stay here again, but not during peak season as we are not into crowds and kids.

Stayed here at end of Sept 2021 to first week in Oct. Catching up on reviews.

THE GOOD
Office: Nice staff. Very clean and welcoming.
Amenities: Laundry was clean and everything worked as expected (dryers dried well and such). The playgrounds for kids were really nice and large.
Location: Very close (5 miles) to gas, restaurants, and groceries.
Restaurants: There is a decent restaurant directly across the road from the KOA.
Maintenance: Clean campground that was well-maintained.
Sites: Our site was grass and backed up right to the river.
Services: The KOA offers pump-out services for sites that do not have sewer hookups for a very small fee. I think it was $20.
COULD BE BETTER:
Sites: The riverside back-in sites were a bit muddy (grass sites) and did not have sewer. The sites as a whole were a bit tighter than some.
WORTH NOTING (not good or bad thing)
Cell: As it was a year ago I cannot recall the connectivity.
