Great little city park with hiking, kayaking and fishing. Shared water with neighbor, so remember to bring your y connector. Pretty flat sites. Water and electric with dump station on the grounds

Let me begin by saying I'd stay here again for location and price, hubby said never again...
1. Water we put in our tank was brown. The strangest thing, campers hooked their hose to the community spigots. When we finally found one to fill our tank water was brown. I guess the very young inexperienced staff (I only saw very young staff the entire time) didn't want to tell people that the spigots were for everyone. I think because the faucets were being used not the way the camp was designed causes the brown water.
2. Bathhouses were filthy by Saturday evening and on Tuesday morning toilets were still clogged and trash from a very busy weekend still FULL.
3 one toilet was not attached to the floor and rocked,
4. There is no slot to pay late stay fee and although we tried to pay for late stay at 8 am there were no instructions. We had an appointment and had to go out early the day we were checking out. I got a very rude phone call "we were just wondering if you know what time check out is" in a tone of voice that implied I was illiterate.
Rest of Park is clean enough, there is a pond, and canoes to rent. There appeared to be bike rentals and there were playgrounds that were being well used as it was a crowded weekend.

This campground is OK. Some 50amp sites and most are 30amp. Biggest problem with this campground is it is low land and drainage is not good. On two or three occasions got rains that had no place to go and the campground had standing water quite se time after the rain. Few sites escaped this problem.
The campground is secure. Has a coded gate and park rangers make rounds. They also have a security person parked on site for several late evening hours on Friday and Saturday. After awhile I felt way over protected alost aggravated. Many times I saw park Rangers and employees violating the 5MPH limit and campers doing the same. So what rules are trying to enforce? No weapons or alcohol allowed.
Inter campground traffic seems heavy during week between park rangers and park employees. Not sure if there was any purpose of the employees except to use up work hours. There was a female employee who had a purpose, she did the bathrooms and shower facility very well.
The road in is narrow windy with deep ditches. Keep both hands on the wheel and drive slow.

It rained most of the time during our stay, so we didn’t explore the campground or its offerings much. But for the amenities we did you, there were issues. The bath house and laundry facilities were not kept up, mosquitos and spider webs everywhere. We ended up having to use the power pole from the site next to us, as ours kept cutting out (thankfully I had an extension long enough and those people never showed up.

This campground is close to our home and cheap compared to other campgrounds in the area. This was our first time here and we find it adequate. We did not use any amenities other than the bathhouse. It was clean. We will return.

We stopped by here on a whim to hike and kill some time and after seeing it, we booked two nights here at an electric site. I absolutely love it. Well maintained sites and a nice dump station. They also offer propane service. The bath houses are brand new and equipped with private shower rooms each with air conditioning. The trails are well maintained, though do get a little muddy after a hard rain. You can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats or bikes to meander the park and it's little river system (or use your own). The river itself is beautiful, calm waters that's easy to paddle. And they stock it for fishing.
Perhaps in the past this was an iffy campground, but not anymore. I'd definitely return here.

Sites were spacious, not super private but clean and well kept. Our dogs and us really enjoyed the walking trails and the river. We’d stay here again if we pass through!

We stayed here to visit Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Chincoteague. There are not that many hookup spaces, but, 2 of them are very good for long rigs and are pull through. Otherwise, there are many spaces for tents and smaller rigs. They change the pass code on the gate regularly, so the staff actually called me and gave me the codes. So nice! There are several trails to walk toward the river. And so lots of places to walk the dog. When you get to the river there is a modern dock, a refreshment stand with indoor meeting area (closed for the season), picnic tables, and benches throughout. Everything looked new! At the campground, the buildings also looked new. There was a shower/restrooms building and a laundry / restrooms building. The laundry room was locked after dark. There are a couple of playgrounds, and at the entrance there are paddle boats/canoes to rent. This would be a great place to take your family.

All the other reviews are correct, this is a lovely park and campground with awesome new shower and bath faculties. We were in an electric only site; the shared water source was too far away to connect( and when we filled our tank from portable containers we discovered the water was slightly greenish-gold so didn’t use it. At the bottom of the loops there is some traffic noise from a nearby highway during commuting hours.

We really enjoyed our visit here. Things I wish I knew ahead of time though: not all sites have water and those that do are shared. You’ll need a y-connector for your hose. You’ll also need a decent amount of hose (50 ft should reach), my 25 foot hose was too short. Alcohol isn’t allowed anywhere on the campground (possibly not aggressively enforced though). Overall it’s a great campground for the cost. The sites are good sized, decently level gravel, shaded and aren’t crammed together. There are new, well kept playgrounds, mini golf, and a river for fishing (permit required), kayaking/canoeing. There are several trails for hiking. A small camp store where you can rent kayaks/canoes/life vests. There are bath houses but I didn’t use them. My son really enjoyed the playground and wildlife (plenty of lizards and frogs roaming around). Dump station is on the way out near dumpsters and has water for easy cleanup. Overall I’m very impressed and would definitely visit again!
