This is one of the nicer Thousand Trails Parks we have been to. For us, we didn't pay anything since it was included in our membership.
Verizon signal was great for remote working, even without a booster or antenna. AT&T, even with a booster, was worthless for data.
The park is clean and well maintained. Most sites are very well groomed, and unfortunately, true to Thousand Trails fashion the park is mostly seasonal sites. The sites that are left for transients are very narrow. Phase 1 sites (maybe section A, I don't remember the naming convention) the sites are very short. I would definitely try to get a site in the section up on the hill to the right when you come in. It is much much nicer.
I can't ding the park for nature, but pack bug spray. As the park is surrounded by lakes, even in the middle of the day the mosquitos are going to carry you away. It's so bad that we never really got a chance to hang out outside.
Overall, the park is really nice. The roads are maintained, the sites are level and the staff is friendly.
In the area, there isn't much to do but be sure to visit TJ Hasse Winery (Shaggy Dog Brewingl, The Sycamore Winery (Big Leaf Brewing) and Terre Haute Brewing. For food choices, just eat at home. Everything sucks. Terre Haute Brewing was the only place with decent food that we tried.

This is a lovely park with lots of small ponds and wilderness to be explored. It is well maintained and the manager and staff are very friendly and helpful. There is no WiFi available throughout the park but is available in the coffee lounge and lodge. Pool is small but clean and laundry facilities are great.
We were assigned a site at check in, which is unusual for TT parks, but since so many sites are annual (see below for additional comments) we were told they had few short term visit sites and they are so busy they assign them. Ours was a very small site, and sadly, next to the worst maintained seasonal site at the campground (staff told me they were trying to get the owner of site to clean it up) The remainder of seasonals take pride in their camps and they are maintained quite nicely.
Comment to Thousand Trails corporate: it would be extremely helpful if the maps indicate seasonal/annual sites as it is deceptive looking at the maps and believing all that are shown are available for short term stays. Many campgrounds have limited sites available and those that are available are small or undesirable. This location is gorgeous and much better than other TT campgrounds overrun with golf carts, tacky permanent structures and seasonal people who don’t think they have to follow park rules which are rarely enforced anyway.
We will definitely return to Horseshoe Lakes.

ALERT,, if you are coming to park from North down hwy 71 be aware there is a detour posted at hwy 71 and hwy 61 intersection.. go past the detour and proceed down to country road 1300 and turn left. the resort entrance is on left and hard to see,, look for the green flags above the corn stalks. (8-24-21)
if you are coming in from the south and Terre Haute up hwy 61 on to Hwy 163 turn right on Ridgeline rd ( blue water tank on set off corner) and go past Van Duyn elementary school to stop sign,, turn left and proceed down till you see flags and TT entrance. the road is decent but keep speed down especially if you are a large unit. (8-24-21)
The detour is due to construction on Hwy 71 right off of hwy 163.. you can go past and turn right on Main st. take that up to W.Grand Ave.. back over to hwy 71N.. ( 6 blocks or so) the road is quite the paved country road, narrow and some "stuff" but is you take it easy you will have not problem. I drove the route today in pickup and its not bad.. "be brave adn go forth.. " (-8-24-21)
Start of review..
We got here the other day and have been exploring the RV park which is hugh.. lots of lakes and places to fish. The lake water is not all the best as its not actively feed by a large stream so the water can be a still. The other day due to the heat and algae one lake had a bit of a smell when we walked by.
If you are coming in off Hwy 71 on to the country road 1300, the entrance can be hidden by the tall corn stalks of the fields.. be looking for the flags on left,, one green one white. when you go by the Texaco sign it past the field on left.. :)
The road has some pot holes as does the road in and around the park.. (all gravel) so go slow and be on the lookout for some largish potholes.
the water is a bit hard,, measuring 399 on the TDS meter. on the Water Hardness test strips it measures at 1000 ppm, I hooked up water softener and that help a lot.. bring it back to 0 ppm.
T mobile in our spot A-4 was not great.. most of the time it was on "E" but with my older webooster with phone right on the indoor antenna would get 4 bars LTE and decent speed..
the ATT hotspot was a 28 ping and speed around 10 meg down.. up was 1-4 depending on time of day.
they did just complete a complete renovation of the elec system.. all new pediatals with 50, 30, 20 amp. the voltage was around 120 when we plugged in and has been steady all week with temps in the mid 90's and humidity to match. (feels like NC in summer ;) )
The town of Clinton is close by.. there is a super nice golf course when you turn left and just keep following road called Geneva Hills.. nice par 72. I played it with some locals on monday .. $28 green and cart on monday and some kinda scramble tournament. $12 to get in and i won back $32 so I was able to play for $8 !! I played with Gene, local pharmacist at CVS; Tommy aka T.R. , spent time as boy swimming in the lakes at where are now horseshoe lakes; and Steve, not real talkative ..
Be sure to check out the photo on right wall beside the check in desk that shows a steam shovel in the what is not horseshoe lake. if you look on the ground up by the building with laundry on the right and up some as you are going out there is coal all over in the ground. (look for the whiteish stuff)
UPDATE ON LP.. we were going by walmart to PO and in front of the tractor supply is a place called Shepard Gas.. there is a large LP tank out by the road.. they are.... $2.09 gallon (8-25-2021)
OMG that is good. ( cost me 10 buck to find out.. LOL i refilled two 30 lbs needing 12.4 gallons. )
Also in town at Scott Oil (765-832-2475) you can get LP tank refilled for $2.99 gallon (8-24-2021) which is close to the walmart.
There is no recycling in the town we found, but if you head down to Terre Haute there is a county recycling place not far out of town. Search for Vigo County solid waste center, 3230 E. Hawthorne Ave, Terre Haute, IN

A lot of full time people who get the nice spots on the lakes. It also seems like the people who pay also get the spots close to the lakes. We were in what I believe is the TT members area. It was very quiet and nice. A lot of bugs. Bring repellent. A lot of places to walk. No lights at night so make sure you have an awning light or flashlight if you are taking your dog out after dark. One of the nicest TT I have been to. Staff is very nice. We did have a spot assigned to us, not first come, first serve.
