This is what I get for flying by the seat of my pants and not having a cooler with me to stay in a Walmart parking lot. I was trying to get ahead of some spring storms but needed to stop driving. My first choice was booked up for the night. I paid a ridiculous price to attend a party where I didn't know a soul. This is summer camp.
Had that been my mood and intention it would have been great - but I was surrounded by three different groups blasting three different genres of music for hours as golf carts whizzed too and fro. I was parked near the "kitchen" which was a tent set up frying everything from pickles to twinkies with the fryer stinking up a large portion of the surrounding area.
It was not my idea of relaxing.
All of this and no internet, add in some relatively obnoxious ladies working the desk and voila - never again. It gets 2 stars, rather than one because my sight was level and there was a security gate.

This place was not that great. It is definitly a weekend/party type place. The weekdays were quiet which was nice but the weekends are loud and full of obnoxious types. The bathrooms would be trashed (ex: feces left in the toilet on numerous occasions, toiletries left behind all over bathroom, toothpaste smeared on the mirrors). The bathrooms were actually nice, clean and A/C. But the type of people that would come through just treated everywhere like their garbage can. There was litter all over the ground, the pool area was filled with trash all the time. Empty cans/bottles, broken sunscreen bottles, etc. People were always smoking EVERYWHERE! Even in the fenced in pool area where there are numerous signs that say nonsmoking. There is a shed with pool chemicals that is clearly posted NO SMOKING. People were even smoking IN the pool. It was unfortunate. The main purpose of this place is for boat access. People with boats will love it.

The sites do have a cement slab which was nice. Some sites do not have sewer but the employees will come around and pump out your tanks for free whenever requested. The only problem with that is that the tractor is loud and it smells!!

The ants are atrocious because of the sandy soil. We had to get two sets of bug sprays since my peppermint and cinnamon oils weren’t enough to combat it. We literally founds hundreds inside our RV.

There is a ice cream truck that drives through about three times a week as well as a food truck that is always parked by the pool. We didn’t buy anything but the food truck looked decent.

The city of Washington is very cute and worth exploring. The downtown is raight on the river.

Overall, I just don’t think this place is really worth the money.

We stayed 2 nights for free as part of our Thousand Trails membership. Full hookups (50amp, water, sewer). Stayed in site D10.

It's a very large campground with mostly permanent residents. The section where we stayed was reserved for nightly/weekly sites. Most of the sites were sand/dirt under tall trees. The ground is a bit unlevel with tree roots but we pretty easily found a good spot. It had been raining so some of the site was a bit soggy and we opted to back in instead of pulling through to avoid some mud at the back. Definitely more of a "camping" style park rather than a "resort" but not bad at all.

The pool was closed due to coronavirus restrictions, but we spent our time out by the lakes fishing.

A Walmart Supercenter is just 15 minutes up the road in the small town of Washington.

This campground is wonderful for fishing. Saw many campers with stringers full of Crappie. There are many boats and people having fun. We have a 40ft 5th wheel and enjoyed the extra space of our site, room for both the Ram and Hannah Montana! The one downside is the sewer. There is a tractor that travels around the park with a "honey" wagon attached. Our site's sewer filled up twice during our stay. The first time I noticed when emptying the black tank - the drain in the ground bubbled then a stream started running. It was stopped immediately... Then came promptly to empty. The second time, my wife was showering and I happened to be on the off door side. Another stream formed... A call was made to front desk - again they came right away to empty it out. We don't shower every day - but do wash up. Our black tank usually last 15 to 18 days... Wifi is good here, cell service was ok - we did not have 5 bars of ATT more like 2 and then 4 with WeBoost. Overall, this is our second stay and would stay here again. The staff is friendly and nice. Short drive into Washington is a must. Beautiful walk along the river, wonderful restaurants and shops. There are major shopping chains in Washington for all your needs.

We stayed at Twin Lakes for about two weeks and enjoyed our time. They keep the short-term campers on one side of the park, away from the most of the annuals. We liked this set up. There are a lot of places to explore in the area...Boating, kayaking, hiking, and checking out local historic locations. Clean sites and good cellular. We would stay here again.

We paid zero, since this is an Encore site in the Thousand Trails/Trails Collection...part of our membership.

We stayed here a couple months ago and decided to stop over again on a return trip to the area. Full hookups (50amp, water, sewer). Water pressure is a bit weak topping out at 45psi. And we actually had a nearly gross situation with the sewer which we found out was a simple holding tank. The seasonal spots are not connected to city sewer yet so they are just holding tanks below the ground. The honey bucket wagon has to pump them out on a regular basis and apparently our site was full and not pumped before we arrived. We had been boondocking for a few days so we opened our grey tanks first just to make sure the connection was solid. A few seconds later we realized nothing was going down. A quick call to the office and the honey wagon came by not long later, so A+ for quick service.

When we think of camping we think if experiencing the great outdoors. Sure extremely popular areas like south Florida or any beaches where real estate is expensive we expect crowded campsites. But located in a rule area one would expect a large campsite. We’ll all the large sites go to full time residents and us visiting with Thousand Trails Membershio are stuck on rows of over crowded muddy sites.

Other than that the campground is a nice one and if they would provide a nicer campsite I would give them 5 stars

Not a place we will likely come back to. Needs some TLC at sites and around the grounds. Everything was a bit soft and saturated. Felt like we were right on top of neighbors. Lots of long term rentals there.

We've been to 12 different Thousand Trails parks, and this has been my favorite so far! The voltage was great, we didn't need to drag out our water softener, and had no issues with the sewer holding tanks filling up (and we do alot of laundry in our camper!). The honey wagon came by several times during our stay. The pools and hot tub were all very clean and well maintained. All the facilities were in great shape.
The front desk people were super nice, and responded to concerns immediately. We got a few Amazon orders delivered, and there was no charge for packages. Yay!
We stayed for 14 days, including the labor day weekend. It was very peaceful during the week, and the non-holiday weekend. It was packed and very busy over the holiday, but that's totally expected. Everything calmed down before quiet time.
I especially enjoyed all the ponds and access to the water! We spent alot of time walking around, and watching the fish jump. We went to nearby Washington, visited breweries, the Estuarium ($5 entry fee, and includes a boat tour if you schedule in advance!), and we saw lots of animals from the boardwalk. It's a cute little waterfront area, and a nice way to spend an afternoon.

My only complaint is that the back of our site was super close to the neighbors. Their picnic table was a few feet from our bedroom slide. The sites are pretty long though, so it would be a little better if people parked so they sort of stagger the rigs, instead of lining them up directly next to each other.
Some have bigger yard areas than others, but I guess that's part of trying to lay out a campground among the trees! The trees here are beautiful.

I'm happy that we're coming back here for another 2 weeks next month!

We've been here many times and Twin lakes always ranks in our top 10 list. It's a nice park that's always clean and well maintained. Many of the transient sites are pull through and very few narrow. It's big rig friendly and the staff are always fairly pleasant. The noise levels are typical for a nice campground; occasional train in the distance, crazy boater out on the water somewhere, and the odd Marine fighter jet overhead. Nothing to concern anyone except to most audio-sensitive among us.

Sites are level, and there's a security gate. The roads are good. We've never been here during the summer, so I don't know what it's like then, but the rest of the year is great.

They serve Hershey's Ice Cream at the store, so that's a huge plus in our books, and the typical amenities abound. Fire ring, 50 amps, full hookup, picnic table, pool, game room, and $1 laundry machines. The free WIFI at the clubhouse is good for email and browsing, and the paid WIFI has been very acceptable in previous visits.

Verizon is often only 2 bars on my iPhone or iPad, and bandwidth has always been very acceptable in the past. Voice and data connections are great. However, it's October 2022 and the data bandwidth is crazy good! Up to 90mbps on my iPhone 14! Up to 30mbps on my original iPad Pro, and I'm currently using a cheap little hot-spot and getting almost 10mbps down and over 5mb up. If it were like this everywhere, I wouldn't need StarLink!

New Bern is an easy distance away with the birth place of Pepsi; a drugstore that's fun to visit. In our opinion, Persimmons is one of the nicest waterside restaurants on the East Coast without the hoity-toity attitude. We go there every time we're in the area. Washington has Backwater Jack's Tiki bar and it also serves good food. Both places are dog friendly with good outside seating.

There is a good dog park in Washington and a small but very serviceable dog park in the campground.

Washington is quite close (especially once the bridge is done in the summer of 2023) and Greenville is an easy drive away. Plenty of stores and services in both cities.

For those who bike, it's a fairly good area with trails within easy driving distance. Once the bridge is finished, biking into Washington will be easy. The road from the campground is kind of narrow, but there's not a lot of traffic outside of shift change and we've never had an issue with the drivers.

We plan on selecting a campground as our home base when we retire, and this campground will be on that very short list.
