Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on July 21, 2023GPS brought us through town, and I won’t lie, I was skeptical. However, when you pull into the grounds, it doesn’t feel like you’re even close to the city.
We camped in late April, so the park was rather empty. We got lot 41, which is a “double lot” with a creek view (they did away with lot 42 due to the close proximity of the two, and now lot 41 is a double lot).
The creek was really flowing, and the sound of rushing water could be heard from inside the camper with the windows open. The “camp side” is at the rear of the lot, making for a great spot to sit and relax by the creek.
Staff is VERY friendly and helpful when needed. We called a number and had firewood delivered right to the site. It looked like most fire pits did not have cooking grates, so you’ll want to bring something if you plan to cook on the fire (we had a tripod chain and grill).
If you have kids, there would be plenty for them to do with playground equipment, basketball hoops, open fields etc. There’s a frisbee golf course on the grounds as well.
Large pond for catch and release fishing. While we did not take advantage, the park obviously offers canoe rentals and tubing on the creek.
Shower houses looked clean and maintained.
Crawfordsville IN may not be a destination spot, but if you’re in the area and just looking for a spot to set up for a bit, or if you’re passing through, this park seems like a great option.

We were there ahead of the Labor Day Weekend and I had no complaints. The facility is huge at 48 acres with lots to do including a 9 hole disc golf course. Mostly they rent kayaks and tubes to use on Sugar Creek where they have a lot of frontage. When we checked in there was only one other camper in our section for which I was grateful since the sites are jammed together. Very limited maneuvering room. A few more folks moved in on subsequent days. Our last day, Friday, we left to go hiking at Shades State Park. Returned about noon and it was bedlam. All sites were occupied and everyone was making smoke. The folks next to us were blasting their radio. We were very glad to (carefully) hook up and leave. Also, there is no campground wi-fi at all. It's not offered. I had a good data connection for both Verizon and AT&T on mobile hotspots.
The location is good and it would probably be fun if it were not a holiday or weekend. The big rigs are in a separate pull-through section so not affected. It's well located for visiting Shades and Turkey Run State Parks and there's plenty to do for the kids. The staff was pleasant and helpful and it seemed well organized. My only complaint is the minimal spacing between sites.

Sooooo many spiders and all different species big ones small ones green ones brown ones.
Besides the spider problem it was meh, I got squirrel crap on my trailer and car everywhere.
You can hear a train every so often but that is pretty standard at most campgrounds there is always trains so it's not a big deal and I slept through them
Nice place, levelish gravel spaces and lots of grass. Annoying entry process with the RFID card and gates but whatever.

Great place to bring your family for a getaway. With some very enjoyable walking path along the creek, owned by the campground. A very large yard for playing softball, plenty of activities to do around the water with lots of kayaks around. The owners and staff are friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help you make your trip as enjoyable as possible.
