Friendly place good neighbors it's a new KOA and they are really putting forth the effort to make this place stellar.
Water pressure is my only negative and we filled our tank and used the pump and all was well. It's a county water problem not a KOA controlled thing.
Right on the currituck sound with a water taxi to take you to corolla NC.

This place was amazing! They are really putting some money into this place. All the campsites were spacious and well maintained. We had a waterfront site and it was beautiful. The playground and jumping pad were wonderful for the kids. They had activities available for kids. We also rented a golf cart to explore the trails around the property. I was very excited to see that they had decorated the forest for Halloween.
I am really hoping they will put in a pool/splash pad.
We are frequent visitors to the Outer Banks and will definitely make this campground part of our trip from now on.

There wasn’t much out here, Food Lion is over 20 minutes away, so if you forget your cooler like we did - then you’ll need to drive out. The Marina restaurant about 10 minutes down was good and cheap, we were able to eat at the bar which was nice. Fishing available. Hubby got a tick from the brush while fishing outside the campground on public land, so be sure to spray yourself. Duck, etc is over 30 minutes away with shopping, restaurants. Campground is very quiet and spread out, but sites are close together. Super kid friendly with many planned activities for them. Good size playground with lots of kids and good size dog run with many dogs. It is quite a long walk to the two bathhouses. The bathhouse is closer to the seasonal sites. Gravel dirt sites, mostly level. Cell service is okay, not great. Warning: MUST go 25 MPH - the local police watch the stretch of road going to the campground and will ticket drivers going over. The campground even warns that this can happen.

Crowded campground, but beautiful location. Our site faced the sound which was lovely. The little trail beside the water made for a wonderful dog walk. We had to deal with a gas shortage during our stay so our original plans to tour the Outer Banks had to be modified, but the campground was a delight. The bathhouse was clean though our stay included a crowded weekend when the private showers and toilets needed more regular cleaning. Cell service was good; don't know about WiFi.

Had a waterfront site. Misread the site information and thought site included private showers/toilet. We did have a patio and chairs. Loved our stay and would stay again. Area was clean, restful and peaceful. Restrooms were clean and it wasn’t overly crowded as some have stated. Will stay again.

We camped here late Aug 2020 and plan to return Labor Day 2021! While the sites are fairly narrow, they are very deep - your picnic table area is behind your camper so you can enjoy the view. Our kids loved the playground and all of the activities. We took part in the photo scavenger hunt, community fire & s'mores, and slip 'n' slide. It is big and you'll definitely enjoy having a golf cart to get around. We rented kayaks and had a blast rowing around the sound.

We had a back in site reserved for our Class A motorhome set for one of the busiest weekends (Labor Day) and our starter died just as we were leaving home. They were able to switch our reservation to one of waterfront cabins. It cost more, but no cancellation fee.
They saved our weekend and let us borrow a personal bottle opener when they were sold out. Nice camp store, live bands, super nice staff and campers, beautiful views, clean cabins, tons to do.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend. What a great spot. The waterfront spots were excellent. Sites are narrow but they are level and you have a very large space behind your trailer for fire pit, etc. the new owners have done an outstanding job with upgrades. Views are superb, waking up to a painted sky during rise is a great way to start the day. It’s very convenient to Kitty Hawk which is about 20 minutes down 158.
The road going in is very narrow and 25mph is strictly enforced.
To be as busy as it was the campground was very quiet at night which was great for us.
The pathway along the sea wall made an excellent path to walk the dogs.
The Wi-Fi was iffy but that could be our position with the external antennas. I think we were too close to the dipole antennas to get a good signal which is totally possible.

We really enjoy staying at Currituck KOA. They have a lot of amenities, and usually have a themed weekend every week. Fair warning - In the spring and fall, it can get pretty windy here. Also, there is not a pool here, but you can swim in the Currituck Sound, which the kids always enjoy. They also have a rebooking discount of 30%. So we always book our next stay before we leave. This year, they also now have a shuttle bus that goes to local attractions.

Campground is very nice and quiet. There are plenty of activities for the family. I was surprised to find out that water rentals were included for free. Our kids also really enjoyed the pedal cars, which were also included for free. It was a nice treat to find so many activities included with our stay.
Out site was situated nicely with a lovely view. It was reasonably level, though not perfect. My main issue was the elevation and distance of the sewer hook up. The hookup was pretty much level with the campers hoses and there was a drop in elevation between then which made emptying tanks difficult. There was also a pretty good distance from the hookup to the camper as well, it required a good bit of hose. I will add that I am a fairly new to camping so a lack of experience could be to blame. I don’t know if this experience is shared by other sites either.
The one negative for me was the bugs. That’s not really something they have any control over and I learned quickly that bug spray was necessary. During the in the main area of the campground was perfectly fine. The nature trail was unpleasant though, lots of biting flies and gnats. Also, I found that sitting outside after dark can be rough when there isn’t a good breeze. I don’t hold that against the campground. It’s the nature of nature. I only mention it to warn anyone else. A good breeze at night seemed to keep them at bay and made for a really pleasant evening.
I’d like to note a few points. Wi-Fi was so-so. Coverage on my phone was often better. I have Verizon and ranged between one and three bars of 5G. I would say that staying connected wasn’t a problem for me. Fishing gear is also available at no charge at the camp store in addition to the other activities. The campground has a unique position that provides incredible sunrises and sunsets.
I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a nice place to visit as a family, a couple, or even traveling for work. We intend to visit again.
