Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 18, 2020The Hixton / Alma Center KOA is one of our favorite campgrounds. My wife and I try to get here at least once or twice a year.
This a nice campground. Listed as a KOA Holiday, this campground is very family friendly. Clean and well maintained. The owners and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a heated pool, a jumping pillow, and several hiking areas around the park. Clean bathrooms and showers, and several full hookup sites.
In the lower campground, the sites are a little closer together but not any closer than other KOAs. The campsites on the hill are more separated and the views can be spectacular. The Hixton / Alma Center KOA has several cabins as well.
Although in a secluded area, the campground is about 30 minutes away from the town of Black River Falls, and several ATV trails. If there were any negative, I would have to say that there is a dairy farm about a mile away. If the breeze is just right, the aroma may periodically waft into the area.
Overall a great campground that I would highly recommend!

This was our first site we stayed at & first KOA! Were we pleased! We called from Madison to see if there was space. John had everyone spaced out, as it wasn’t full. The kids went swimming & jumped on the jumping pillow. The dog ran in the dog park & we took a walk around the entire park. We ended up having a storm go through (2 tornadoes were 1 hour north) but the roads had all been freshly graded. The restrooms/ showers were extremely clean! The site was good! I’m thankful for a positive first experience!

I can imagine during the summer months this place is pretty popular. It is very nice, lots of big sites for large rigs, easy to maneuver. They spaced everyone to be at least every other site which was nice since it was off season and some parks still pack you in all together even though there is plenty room to spread out. They have cable TV which we got like 88 channels, laundry room was open and we did laundry. They cost 2.75 to wash and 2.25 to dry. They are smaller machines. They have have one front loader washing machine that costs 3.00 to wash. The luxury sites were up on the hill and were nice and long. We don't normally stay at KOAs because they are usually overpriced for just one night to stay before heading out again. But being off season all the sites cost the same as we understood it so what the heck as for the premium site.

We picked up our new 5th wheel and headed straight to the campground to test it out.
Upon arrival we were upgraded from a back in site to a pull through site.
Site was level and well cared for. Watchdog reported no issues with electric even during severe weather and we had good water pressure the whole stay. Wi-Fi was spotty at best but we were also in the sites farthest away from the office. I bet the sites closer had better access.
Unfortunately between the heat the first day and the tornado warnings and nonstop rain the second day we didn’t explore much of the campground.
Staff were friendly and we would stay here again if the need arises.
