“Kampgrounds of America”
Just three miles from Flaming Gorge reservoir, this small, off-the-beaten-path campground shaded by mature cottonwoods offers beautiful views of the reservoir and of the surrounding mountains. The campsites are spread out across green areas, an oasis in a high desert setting. Try your luck at fishing on Flaming Gorge for huge lake trout, kokanee salmon and rainbow trout. Fly fishing and rafting the Green River is a not-to-be-missed treat! Spend some time hiking, biking and exploring the Uinta Mountains and the Ashley National Forest. As your hosts, Monty and Traci Frost are looking forward to seeing you. Max pull through: 75 ft.

Next to the highway, but it wasn’t too noisy or busy with traffic. Bi spots and the owner was super cool. He could tell I want an experienced RVer, and guided me into my spot, by telling me which way to turn my wheels and when to stop. Easiest time I’ve ever had backing up my fiver. Clean and close to Flaming Gorge.

$30 for a tent site. Site had an electric outlets so we could charge phones. Bathrooms were very clean. Near a road but not too noisy. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating! Definitely worth the money for a warm shower.

Nice, very clean and well maintained camping spot. Sites are narrow. Site A8 is along a highway and is a bit noisy. Pool is clean. About one hour from the Flaming Gorge Dam. If we were to come back we would boon-dock at the National Forest campsites that are closer to the action.

We stayed here to see Flaming Gorge and fish the Green River. It’s about a 50 minute scenic drive to Dutch John where most of the float trips begin. When we come back to this area, we will stay here again. There are other campgrounds closer to Dutch John, but they did not look as nice as this KOA. The campground is clean, the staff are actively out and about and friendly. Laundry was clean. Our site was a
Pull through with grass, table and fire pit and it was level. Cell service was good here with both AT&T and Verizon. Husband streamed college football games all day Saturday with no issue. We did not use the restrooms or WiFi. There is some road noise but it’s not bad. The market in town is minimal so come here stocked. The nearby Sheep Creek Geological Loop is a must. Office has a helpful one page map of the Gorge and scenic byway.

When I booked this park on KOA.com I could only book a 30amp back-in which, admittedly, is not a true problem. Our hosts, Monty and Traci, asked on my arrival if I would prefer a pull-thru which I accepted. I run into many nice people running parks but Monty and Traci are a cut above. Pretty park. A block away from the local grocery store which is pretty well stocked. Nice looking gas station in town with reasonable gas prices too. A little traffic on the road at night but not odious. Electric and sewer services are exactly where I need them and water is close enough I don't have to get out the garden hose. Just a great park. After we rolled in however we discovered that our next stop, Lucerne Campground and Marina would be hosting their big fishing derby the dates we were expecting to be there. I asked Monty if it were possible to have one of his sites instead and he fixed me right up.
Meeting such nice folks wasn't the only surprise of the day. The drive from Vernal to Manila is beautiful and steep. I expected mountain driving and only drove 198 miles that day to compensate for the time I knew I'd loose. The first 100 were easy enough even on US 191 from Price to Duchesne. The last 80 are almost entirely vertical either up or down...and forget about 5% grades. It's 8% or nothing. The last 20 being the worst. It is entirely manageable if you slow down and take breaks. Our 40 footer with a tow did surprisingly well. Smelled the brakes a couple times. Pulled over and rested. Still got here. PS WIFI is awesome here.

Here for a week to explore Flaming Gorge and dinosaurs and it was a good location for that. Sites basically level and easy enough to get into. Laundry worked well. Owners very nice. Stock up on groceries before you get here. Able to stream with WiFi. AT&T 3 bars.

Nice, clean small KOA with motivated owners. The sites are a bit close together and unlevel. Our tires were up off the ground on one side once leveled. There is nowhere to turn around when leaving because the main roads are one way/deadend. The back-in sites are kinda bass-akward. We have a 42' fifth wheel and dually. It was a very tight squeeze to pull out of our site and get our rig turned toward the exit when time to leave. Everyone was very friendly and the staff did a cute $1 a scoop ice cream floats fundraiser for the KOA childen's charity while we were there for one night. We had just spent a week at a very ugly and unfriendly RV park in Rawlins, WY and were really bummed we didn't know how nice this KOA was. We would've stayed here a week instead. We heard that we'd just missed a rodeo and lots of fun activities for Labor Day Weekend. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. Lots of tent sites and cute cabins available also.
