We stayed here in 2012 when it was $12 night in a little Dodge Van which was the perfect size as the sites are not large. This is really a tent campground. You can fit some smaller sized RV's in but no a lot. There are low overhanging branches on the way in if you have a tall RV. We would not fit in with our 35' Fifth Wheel now unfortunately. You are close to see the animals in the Lamar, at Tower and Hayden Valley. There is water and vault toilets. Bear boxes to put your food and the ranger comes around at night to make sure you have left nothing out. You can have fires. No reservations and the campground fills up quickly. Check the NPS website for opening times in mid May.

We stayed one night here and truly just used it for a quick sleep. The location is great - located near many of great things to see in Yellowstone. The campground itself is just your basic one, vault toilets, picnic tables, level place to park - no privacy, no views, no waterfront..... just no Awe Factor. Not a place I would spend an afternoon sitting in my camp chair. So use it for what it is, a place to spend the night and get up early to see the sights again the next day.
