Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on July 21, 2022We northerners always have trouble finding an open c/g for that first winter night when traveling south. This is a nice full service city park open all year around and is just across the River on the Nebraska side from Sioux City, Iowa. The sites are adequately spaced, the loops easy to navigate and the people are friendly. The c/g also has stored campers on seasonal sites along with full time contract workers living there. I'm sure it is a busy place on summer weekends, but for fleeing snowbirds it is perfect.

This was our third visit to this city park. We picked the site we reserved for views of the river and because it was a pull through. The site was level and spacious. Cons: Filthy fire ring, which was obviously not cleaned out by staff, it was full of cigarette butts and pop tops. Nice walking/biking bath along the river, but trash all along the way. Other rude campers not picking up after their pets because numerous piles of poop. A picnic table along the river was covered with mud, dirt and trash and was never cleaned off the four days we were there. Their reservation and office procedures need improvement as someone drove in and took our site and then left and the office was unaware until we went back to tell them we couldn't get in our site. The office indicated this happens frequently. So procedures definitely need some improvements. Pros: sites are decently spaced, most are level or mostly level, fire rings and picnic tables, electricity worked fine as did water and sewer, some pull-through, majority back-ins, many with nice shade, others with good views of the river. If the office had a better reservation procedure and monitored arrivals and cleaned sites after being vacated I would probably mark this a 9 out of 10. We camped at Scenic Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel

Wow only $18, for a pull thru with 50 amp and cable. Filled our fresh tank, and dumped on the way out. Spacious sites, trees, grass walk to river side. Friendly hosts. Not spotless, but clean.
Across from a residential neighborhood, but the noise was from a far off train. There was interstate bridge work, noise most of day. But truly a gem, especially after paying twice the price for half the space at some private parks along the way. The YMCA adjoins the park, ask for pool pass in office. No laundry, but new place nearby. Looks like it might fill up on summer weekends, some sites reservable. We got one on a Thursday hat wasn't, however once occupied we could extend. Decent WiFi

A nice camping area plopped alongside the Missouri River in South Sioux City, NE, directly across the river from Sioux City, IA. Prices were raised this year from $18 per site, to a gradient of $25, $27, or $35 - depending on site amenities and location. They have a weekly price (get the 7th night free), and also offer a few monthly sites. Cancellation policy is 48 hours prior to receive your deposit back.
We chose a riverside site that offered water, 30A/50A and cable hook-ups. Sites are gravel, some with concrete pads for a picnic table. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. One of the loops (where tent camping is allowed - plus more RV camping) was flooded, but there were still plenty of spaces to choose from when we arrived without a reservation on the Friday before Easter.
Water pressure is good, cable channels are abundant. Bathrooms are clean, showers are hot and have good pressure. There is a code to access the bathrooms. There is a playground in the campground, fishing along the shore of the river, and also unique cabins for rent. There is a pool (which campers have free access to) with a water slide just off campground property. There is a bike/walking/running path that provides access to other biking/walking/running paths that go for miles. There is also a 'bike library' where you can borrow a bike when the campground office is open. Firewood and ice are available for sale.
The park isn't quiet, but it also isn't obnoxious. It's a public park, and it is across the river from I-29. On weekday mornings the train traffic nearby was pretty loud and frequent - but we didn't note train noise at night.
There is a dump station which is angled very strangely for the park's one way traffic designations. Dump price for those not staying at the park is $3.

This is one of the nicest city parks we've stayed in. The roads are easy to navigate within the park. The sites were good sized and fairly level and the signage was good. The park staff were super friendly and very helpful. This park is right on the Missouri River and prone to flooding on the lower sections. The upper sections have beautiful, old trees but the outer sites are DirecTV/Sat friendly.
There is a train line, just across the river, and its pretty loud. But not enough to keep us up!
PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT follow the GPS, it will take you into the Y parking lot. When you turn onto Riverfront drive, simply follow the BLUE CAMPING SIGNS.

We were visiting family who happened to live just a few minutes from this campground. While it was busy, it was quiet. We had a spot on the riverside with a covered picnic area right across from us. It was a great place to sit out and enjoy the view. We had electric and water and they had free WiFi. The YMCA is right next door and the pool is great! There's also a 20+ mile bike trail that goes through the park. We intended to ride it but it started raining. We were here during a super hot streak, so out AC was working overtime. The spots on the riverfront are not really shaded. There was what looked like a shared fire ring and a picnic table. My only turnoff was that the street is not very wide and it was rather challenging backing into our site with our dually truck.

Site is right at the Missouri River. No sewer on this side but 50 amp electric and water. There are some with sewer hookups for a few bucks more. Dump station on site. We booked full hookups but we were given a site without sewer. Bathrooms and showers were ok. Showers are communal. Not a fan. I used handicapped shower. Was long enough I didn’t have to dress/undress in a common area. Showers are a bit old but doable. Site was fairly flat. Didn’t have to raise one side but one LEGO block to be level. Close to Sioux City IA .. just over the river. But South Sioux City had everything. Gas, Walmart, Hyvee and multiple fast food restaurants. Overall a decent stay. Was nice to see the water out the windows and the downtown city lights of Sioux City at night.

As far as city camping goes this campground was great. Spaces are closer than we typically enjoy but the park was great and super friendly. Site 04 was a great pull through with a view of the water.

Upon looking at their hours on their website I thought they closed at 6pm on Tuesdays. We were told, when we called to reserve, to come directly to the office to check in. Upon arrival day I wasn’t sure we would make it by 6pm (the time listed online) so I called to verify what to do if we could not make it to check-in before closing. She assured me they were open until 8 but if we didn’t make it in time there would be a way to check in and get our info when we got here. PERFECT! I like easy 👍🏼.
When we arrived it was around 7pm so I tried they office and they were in fact open. So I do suggest verifying their office hours with them upon your arrival date.
My first impression was that the staff is super friendly. I do mean that truly!
There really aren’t good “views” but the sunset was beautiful. You can’t expect amazing views when you are facing a city, and also dealing with the MO river flooding. You can tell the park was/is still flooded in some areas, but I our site right near the river was nice and dry. It’s mostly near the bank where it’s still flooded/muddy.
I can’t speak on facilities, cable, or WiFi as I didn’t use them. We had full hookups and 2-3 bars with T-Mobile which was a nice change from our drive up to the point.
It is noisy from the city noise pollution. The campground itself seems quiet (but busy). You can’t expect much from a city campground in the way of seclusion and silence.
It is not far off of the highway at all, so very convenient for a stop over! It seems to offer many fun things to do, and right near a lot of attractions and food!

This is a campground close to home where we could "test drive" our camper. We have now stayed a total of 3 different times and keep coming back because it is so nice. The view of the river is great but do not plan to go in for a swim as it is a very fast moving river with dangerous undercurrents. The noise from the interstate on the other side of the river can be noisy when the truckers use their jake brakes but overall it is a nice quiet place to stay. It is VERY clean! The bathrooms are really kept up nice and for me being a first-time camper, they didn't freak me out. Highly recommend!
