Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 23, 2022They have sites of all sizes for any size of coach, call first for rates as we were on the weekly rate including taxes. Sites are generally gravel & level, site 37 was full hookups, no cable. They also have electric-only sites & dry camping spaces, call to arrange. AMB is located next to a Flying J truck stop that has no dedicated RV islands and does not allow overnight RV Parking. You will get noise from nearby I-90, the truck stops, and nearby AFB that does a lot of touch and goes. AMB has WIFI by subscription that was very fast 99% of the time and was easy to connect to.

Full hookups, they charge you to use the WiFi, $ 10.00 for a week. Pads are level but it’s mostly dirt the pea gravel is almost swallowed up by mud, when we had rain it was a muddy mess. Verizon signal is spotty, pets are allowed.
We had paperwork to finish but we would not stay here again, right off the 90 hwy.

We stayed here to Comintern our South Dakota residence, first stop in our new lifestyle. Walking distance to America’s Mailbox and you can also get to some fabulous places to sightsee.

I want to give this place credit for being open after the middle of October when so many other campgrounds had packed it in for the season. We were very grateful to have a place to hook up as we made our way across the upper Midwest after the first of November. So for that, we say, “Thank You”!
With that said, I hope that we never camp in a place like this again.
For starters, we arrived after dark and there was no map of the campground; anywhere. No map at the office where we picked up our packet and no map in our packet, as promised on line. We drove all over the campground looking for our spot. Finally we found it, on the far side of the campground where no one else was camping. Our spot was reasonably level on a crushed rock surface and our 30 amp service was fine. Problem for us was that we were literally a stones throw from the interstate. We heard the noise from the passing traffic all night long. Numerous times I heard the semi’s engine braking as they rolled past the adjacent interchange. We wanted a good nights sleep and did not get it here.

They have a lot of empty sites further away from the freeway but staying one night puts you a few yards from I90 I guess. Electric available and open when most places are closed for the season.

We travel in our 35 foot fifth wheel, we had full hookups in our pull through site.
We were not told a site number so we just drove around to the pull through sites (we knew what we had purchased) and there was only one spot left (which did end up being ours) Small patches of grass between you and the neighbors, and a grass lot across the street for the dogs.
Obviously there’s going to be noise, and it isn’t a resort. But for $50 a night in the middle of tourist season, it’s a heck of a deal for the location! Great location to make it to Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon, and Mt. Rushmore.

First and Foremost; this is a review of the Campground, not America's Mailbox the company, and their Staff (who are the Best!
But an honest review of the Campground itself is a whole 'nuther Story! Stayed here twice, this last time for one night. $33 for the cheap seats, which is an electric only parking lot nestled gently within 200' of I-90, and two truck stops at the same exit. Exit ramp being right there, next to the campsite. Now, just imagine the numerous trucks using their engine brakes (even though it's illegal in City limits), to slow down on the exit.
Then on the other side of the highway, the merge lane where Pocket Rockets and the like accelerate loudly to get on the interstate! So obviously, Sleep is not an option. The price, especially for members is far too high for what it is. I normally stay at The Ellsworth AFB Famcamp, with 50amp electric, for $15 per night.
Once again, only a true evaluation of the "campground", not the operation and staff. I believe the only thing that would make a difference would be to construct a tall, brick/concrete, sound-barrier between the campground, the highway and truck stops., but that would be expensive.

This is a convenient stop for a night or so, but it’s quite basic; no shade, no picnic tables, grass needed to be mowed. Pull through w full hookups was $52. Didn’t use the showers/bathrooms so I can’t comment on them.

I contacted Julie at Americas mailbox to renew 5 of my vehicle registrations.
She was able to submit them 3 months early. She was very professional and went out of her way to make everything run smoothly. Good job, thanks again
