This is a wonderful campground for exploring Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore, and viewing wildlife. The sites are spaced apart and staggered so you aren't looking right in your neighbor's window. Several sites are by the creek and shaded, and the rest have little to no shade. The one way road signs are strange. You either have to back up a long road to get to your site or ignore the one way road signs (which we did). I imagine it could be crazy during the busy season. The downsides? It was quite noisy starting about 8:00am as they are constructing a new visitor center and bike/walk path. Just bad timing on our part. Most of the sites are VERY unlevel especially front to back but also side to side. Easier to level for 5th wheels and trailers - we never could get level in our motorhome and satisfied ourselves with "close". The worse part for us (again probably bad timing) was the bugs! There were stink bugs, bees, flies, and other bugs we couldn't identify, and they all wanted to be inside. At one point, we counted 65 stink bugs on the outside of the motorhome. We would return but would be more picky about the site and whether it was bug season.

We stayed here 3 nights. The bathrooms were up to date and clean all the time. They also have laundry facilities. The sites only have electricity so bring in your water for an rv. The campground is located right across the street from the new visitor's center and near the wildlife loop and road to Mount Rushmore. The rest of the lakes in the park are easy to get to. The park rangers came by each night and invited us to a discussion on various topics at the barn.

This quickly became one of our favorite campgrounds! Beautiful lush grassy campsites with plenty of trees for hammock hanging. A picturesque creek runs behind the campground for fishing and provides countless hours of entertainment for the little boy in your group. As you enjoy your evening campfire, the large herd of Bison pass by the fence, 100 feet from your picnic table. This state park is one of the finest we have been to and there is easy access to all of it from this campground. This was the only campground in the park where we could could phone service. We happily used our Verizon mifi to plan out our activities in the area. There is even a small laundry room in this campground. There is a dump station and water fill station to use before setting up in your site, as they are electric only. The tent sites along the creek look fabulous! Though your neighbors are close, this park has so much to offer and the ambience is superb.

Site with electricity, water and dump station available at the campground. Restrooms and showers very clean. Leveled sites, perfect for RV. Some sites are in shaded areas (not ours). 8$ less for South Dakota residents.

We got a very nice spot on the higher side of the campground with some shade. The facilities were very clean. It's a relatively easy walk to the State Game Lodge, which was a beautiful building with a nice large patio and bar. There are nice pull though pads for almost all the sites. What it lacks in character it makes up for in convenience.

We stayed at Game Lodge in April on our way to the PNW and loved it so much we came back on our way back through. Our experience is probably a tad different than most peoples since both times it was cold and snowed. The payoff for enduring the weather though is the campground to yourself!
There are 20,30 and 50 amp hook ups at the site, but no water connections. There is a water spigot and dump station centrally located in the campground, and another dump station just up the hill on the Wildlife Loop. The laundry is closed in the winter, but the Lost Sock in Custer is a great one of you need one.
Be aware that there is a $20 park vehicle fee in addition to the campsite fees.
ATT service was great at the campground and around many areas of Custer and Windcave.

We stayed here a total of two nights. The site had a concrete parking pad, spacious sites, fire pit, electrical hookups, playground in the park and a dump station nearby There is a bathroom and showers onsite, but we did not use them so I am unsure on quality. Only about five minutes away from the start of the wildlife loop and few minutes away from a wonderful general store/gift shop. We had a wonderful time and ever had buffalo Neely a few feet away from our trailer. There is a fee to get into the park. We purchased the annual fee for $35, unsure what the daily rates are. The park is near a main road through the park but the noise wasn’t awful .

Nice level paved sites but there are plenty of trees and grass so you don’t feel like you’re in a campground. Small creek allows for quite time
