I love this park. Visit it every time I just need to get into the outdoors
A nice campground for a night or two. Nice, big sites with grills and fire pits. I do not recommend using the shower facilities, however. They say they clean them everyday, but there is no way. There are also lots of cops hanging around the park. Don’t speed or make any U-turns within the park cause they like to pull you over.
Facilities were filthy and the campers ignorant of the posted quiet hours. I've stayed in much nicer state parks. What a disappointment.

USE RT 173 NORTH ENTRANCE
The Perryville entrance will send you to a dead end.
We visited some family in the area for mothers day. Having been to Rockford a dozen times i never knew something this nice was available. We used Reserveamerica.com to get reservations however if space is available the front office can get you set up there too. There are bike trails that are well maintained and circle the park. There are dirt trails snaking throughout the interior and around the lake for long dog walks or off road biking. Sites are gravel and vary in size. There had been a lot of rain the previous few days and some sites may be saturated to the point a large RV may sink a bit. During the weekend the park packed out to the max so get those reservations done early!
Access is easy from major highways however the park's roads are in need of repair
Location provides any chain or service you can think of within a short drive from the park however the park is large enough you don't feel in a city.
Cleanliness is well maintained with campers for the most part leaving no trace and plenty of staff. Single stream recycling is available too!
Site quality is rough, even for a state park but if you're like us, sometimes we prefer camping to glamping.
Noise is low and mornings are filled with bird songs.

Rock Cut is a great park with a large number of campsites. It seems like it’s one of the largest in northern Illinois and is heavily used on holiday weekends. There is a long list of services and amenities at the park making it easy to keep busy. Swim beach separate from the main lake. Boat rentals, (2) camp stores, restaurant, (2) dump stations, and many fresh water spigots.
in Rockford there is a children's museum that is pretty cool.
There is great mix of campsites to accommodate different peoples camp styles.
The 300, 400 and 500 loops are heavily wooded and smaller sites provide partial privacy.
On the outside of these the loops, many of the campsites are cut into the woods to provide a private cove. Sites 100 thru 200 are good for groups as it is wide open grassy aria.
There is a separate section that is non electric and for tenting only.
Bathrooms are decent however I would avoid the showers.

We love Rock Cut State Park. I've been camping here for over 40 yrs and it's one of our favorites in Illinois and one of the largest state parks!! The park is right off I-90 north of Rockford, IL. The sites are nice and large with gravel pads, nice green grass and mature trees!
There's lots to see and do at Rock Cut with the large lake for sailing and fishing. There are also lots of hiking and bike trails to use as well as equestrian trails and parking in a separate part of the park.
The only sites which have water on site are the handicap sites but there Is shared water faucets around the park, you just need to provide your own hoses to run to them temporarily to fill your freshwater holding tank.
Make sure during the summer months you reserve ahead for weekends because it's a very popular campground and fills up quickly.
Not all sites are level and some sites would be restrictive for larger Big Rigs due to length of the pad as well as how level the site is but over all it's worth camping there!

We stayed here two nights in our rv. Wednesday and Thursday nights. Pretty empty. Site, was very private. Kinda crappy fire pit . Flush toilets and showers close, clean and empty.
Lots of hiking and mountain bike trails. Park is big, over 3000 acres. Boat launch, beach which wasn't open. Really? 90 degree weekend?

Dry Camped Wednesday night for $12. It was super busy. Weekends probably even busier . Very kid friendly with lots of things to do and rent.
Beautify lake access, fishing , boating. As well as Mountain biking , road cycle and hiking trails for walking the dog- there are even horse trails.
Each site has a picknic table and fire pit. Lots of bugs !!!!!bring REPELLENT in the summer
Showers weren’t clean 👎🏻
Bring your own TP for the WC / Outhouses : high humidity everything is soggy
Camping store is only open from 1-4; don’t rely on it if you need ice; wood and supplies .
Access is off the highway 90 toll road : PLAN AHEAD TOO AVOID TOLLS; access to State Park is about 25minutes.

We spent one evening here, arriving after dinner and departing early in the AM. We had a grass back-in site, which was easy to access and close to bathrooms.
The park was quiet, the staff extremely friendly, and the location made it a good spot for a quick, overnight stay on our way west. The adjacent t site was handicap and had a sidewalk from the site to the pit toilet behind our site. The pit toilet was clean.
We chose this campground so that we could use the a/c as it was hot and humid in this area.

A nice state park right off the interstate. The man at registration was very friendly and helpful. he noted the kayak on top of the car and suggested a camp site right beside the boat launch. We were the onlh ones in that loop, so we had plenty of privacy qnd quiet. Bathrooms are pit toilets, so... gross. The grounds really needed mowed, but everything was well cared for, otherwise.
