Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on August 04, 2019We did not actually camp in this campground as we camped at Lakeview Campground also part of Tetlin. We did visit this campground to paddle in the lake here and we checked it out pretty well. This is a bigger campground in area and the lake is much bigger. Still okay for kayaking but keep your eye on the wind. More people here but still not crowded. I'd say this one is better for larger rigs in general. They also offer night nature programs here in the summer. We would definitely camp here but we just fell in love with Lakeview. The whole refuge area is beautiful and well worth a stop.

Great campground with very clean pit toilets, dock, camp host, life jackets to borrow, swimming area, big campsites with privacy and Tetlin NWR talk every evening. Small campground but well worth the stop before or after crossing the AK/CA border. Lakeview campground looked nice also but was full when we pulled in.

This is a great campground - part of the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge which has a visitor center a few miles away.
Sites are level, have tables and fire pits, the vault toilets are clean, and there is plenty of space between sites. There is a day use area with a dock which was not in yet as it was early season. From that area there is a wonderful view to the snow covered mountains in the distance and plenty of waterfowl to watch. Some of the sites are on the lake. There is a also a main area with a screened gathering place. The road in gets a bit narrow, but is good and far enough so that you dont hear the traffic at all

We have stayed at this campground a couple of times, and have enjoyed our time here. Both times we have stayed there have only been a couple of other campers each time. Our stays have been during the off season, so that makes a difference and there wasn't a camp host there at the time for that reason. If you own a larger rig, take caution on the road in as getting two large rigs past each other on the road would be difficult, I pay attention to the wider areas that I could possibly have to back up to if meeting another rig. The sites are nice and in good shape, a couple of which can accommodate very large rigs, if the tent campers would not pull into the largest of sites which is a constant battle while on the road. The lake is beautiful, and usually has water fowl around.

This is a very nice campground with great amenities. They offer free canoes and nightly talks about the area. The host were also very lovely when I was there. It’s a large campground but not a lot of camping spots so it fills up quick and the access to the lake is mostly just a dock.
The lake is lovely and big but the wind blew the whole time I was there. Maybe bad timing on my part.
But it’s far enough off the road you can’t hear the traffic but still easily accessible. All the sites are well maintained and even as well.
Hard to beat free and lake!

This free campground is nicely maintained by the USF&W Service. The pit toilets are all spotless and the Gravel sites spaces far apart. Along with an interpretive trail that cuts across the campsite, there are also 6 canoes available to borrow for rides on the lake in the day use area!

We stayed here 7/30/22.
The road into the campground was a well maintained 1.2 mile gravel road. It is a big area, but only 15 mostly large, level, private gravel sites are available. We arrived on a Saturday, worried about getting a site. The campground was only 1/2 full in the early afternoon, but did fill up by the evening. Most sites are big rig friendly.
Camp host, clean outhouses, trash, tables, fire rings, free firewood, free canoe usage, dock, boat launch, day use, boardwalk with interpretive signs, screened in picnic area (motorcycle tenters sent their tents up inside). There were mosquitos and no cell service, the only two negatives.
A donation box was on site.

Easy drive in. Sites are well-wooded. Definitely preferable to sleeping at a roadside pull-off.
The road in is much better than the paved road we just were driving on!
Campground is clean, WELL cared for with nice sites that are well spaced out and, therefore, many are very private. There are canoes out by the lake with paddles and life jackets that are free to use. We used them rather than breaking out our inflatable kayaks. Very much appreciated! The lake is beautiful and very healthy looking. We caught some small pike for fun ( catch and release).
Since it is a little over a mile from the road, it is super quiet. We slept so well!
Oh! And bonus: AT&T cell phone service here!
Would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend!
No fee but they accept donations which obviously go back into this campground.
