Not many free camping areas near Branson, Mo so this will do. Fire pits and picnic tables are in ok shape. The vault toilets are not ok!!! The CG is right on the road but it’s not busy. Surprisingly, 2 other campers here the night we stayed. Would stay here again but not until checking out other areas farther out from Branson.
We stayed Monday-Thursday and it was pretty quiet, although I think it would fill up on weekends. Has picnic tables, fire rings, bathrooms, and a dumpster. We were able to get our 40 foot fifth wheel in, but we had to take the spot by the dumpster. It was a challenge to get it level, none of the spots were flat.
Lovely spot in Missouri. Passing through to Tennessee and found this gem of a spot with 2 vault toilets, trash and it’s free! Arrived at sunset in a Wednesday and only 2 other campers. There’s about 6 spots to pull in with a camper/ RV then at least 6 tent spots. Most spots have a fire ring and picnic table. 2-3 bars of LTE with AT&T. Little bit of road noise but no issues sleeping in my van. Everyone we came across was kind. No electric or water so come prepared. Closest town for supplies is around 25 minutes. Would definitely stay here again!
I stayed here from December 26 - December 29, 2020. My shake-down trip. As I approached, GPS stated that my destination was on the right, when the "camping area" sign was on the left. I had the place to myself, mostly, with someone just staying one night each night I was there. It is very quiet with very little road noise, even though I was parked very close. The archery range seems very nice with several targets and various areas to fire from. The pit toilets seemed very clean, even though I did not actually utilize the, I just took a peek inside. I really can't comment on any hiking trails, being December in Southern Missouri, it was very cold and I only was outside long enough for my dog to do his business.
The space I wanted (which I had chosen from watching the videos above) was taken by a school bus that had no activity around it while I was there. The other sites are not very level and it took me several tries with my levelers. I got close, but still not level. A large trash dumpster is on-site, which several locals utilized. There were also a lot of "drive-throughs". No issues, just that they occurred.
Just 30 min from Branson and free. Firepits and tables. Commercial dumpster and toilets. What more can you ask for?
Sites are spread out enough. I was hammock camping and had to be selective to get good tree spacing.
Very few people here on a Friday night.
The campsites are not made for pull behind trailers/fifth wheels. The space can accommodate small vans/campers/tents. The vault toilets are awful with a grate for the door, so yes, people could see you do your business. I walked to the back few sites, they are kind of hidden. VERY SKETCHY!! Think homeless encampment. The one legitimate camper walked over to my husband and I and said we should not stay, there are other, better places. He told us he was there a couple months ago and the police shut down both entrances/exits to perform a DRUG BUST. I believed him. It certainly had that feel. We did not stay, we didn’t feel safe in this spot.
I arrived midday and spent some time walking about checking out the other possible sites. The vault toilets are just as others have previously described. Come prepared with antibacterial wipes in your own toilet paper. There were two tent spaces occupied that were obviously long-term (aka possibly homeless) but each area was neat and maintained. There was one site where an enormous amount of bagged garbage and trash had been left by someone. No trash receptacles and no water, so be prepared. Ended up not staying the night then booked a typical campsite on Table Rock Lake for the night.
