Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 04, 2022I first camped there when I was 10 years old with my older brothers. I have been back just about every year and I am 67 years old now. If you like semi rustic camping it is great. There is no electricity or running water. There is an out house and fresh drinking water. the camp sites are well organized with fire pits and picnic table. The cell service is not good you often have to drive out to higher grown to make a call.

We made it to this amazing gem with our 40’ fifth wheel and f350. Was pretty tight on a couple of turns, but totally doable if you take your time. More of the sites are for tents or smaller rigs. I wouldn’t recommend trying with anything longer than 40 feet long.
Dry camping, but has restrooms (not sure of showers), and plenty of water faucets to fill up with.
The campground was over half empty on the Fourth of July weekend! The sites are well maintained and right off a gorgeous gurgling creek that you can hear all night. There is a swimming hole behind site 6/7 that is so refreshing to jump in.
Lots of fish, and probably other wildlife.
There were trails in the park that i could see, but didn’t have time to hike.
Weather was amazing in July. Slightly warm in the day, but amazingly cool at night. We slept w the windows open.

We stayed here on a quick overnight on our way north on 81. The campground is about 6 miles off 81 and takes 10-12 minutes on some curvy roads.
The campsites are nice with plenty of space between sites for privacy.
The only negative for me was that they close and LOCKED the gate at 10:00 and opened it at 6:00. Personally I don’t care for being locked in. We didn’t realize they locked the gate and got up early to get back on the road, but had to wait for them to open the gate. I’m not sure what would happen if you had some kind of emergency in the night.

Amazing little first come first serve campground. Site 3 was great for longer rigs. We were able to stay our night there without having to unhitch. Site 12 has a little beach area on the creek. A few trees are definitely needing to be removed, as the loop is super tight, but we managed ok with our pickup & 26' trailer. There's is a nice hiking trail just up the road, and was completely doable for our 9 & 12 year old kiddos. Camp was extremely clean & quiet. Didn't use the restrooms, but there are several drinking water pumps.

Sites were well spaced and clean. Some sites border the creek. Site #4 was fairly level, okay hiking across the street from the CG. There is dispersed camping nearby: a gravel road across from the campground: about 6 sites, free, some along a small creek.

Great NF CG. The campground is in a quiet area in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We were in site 14 which backed up to a running stream. Sites are spaced apart. We have a 24’TT. The loop is small and not big rig friendly. 30’ TT would be tight and only fit in a few sites. Loved the CG!!
