Reviews
The landscaping is well kept and weekly mowed. Be aware as campers are requested to move belongings off the grass on mowing days. Lush green, quiet nights (except some ignorant "WEEKEND WARRIORS" Friday and Saturday nights). Much room between sites, Laundry uses Pay Range App, 4 washers and 4 dryers $1.75 per use/each. Decent water pressure. Deliveries via FedEx, Amazon, UPS are left near check in office.
NOTE: WHEN YOU ENTER MAKE A SHARP LEFT TURN HEADING INTO LARGE LOT BY BUILDING. IF YOU CURVE TO RIGHT AFTER TURNING OFF HIGHWAY YOU WILL DEAD END AND HAVE TO BACK UP.
The building near this parking area has room on the right side for RVs to park to check in. Go into store to check in.
You will need a gate code to enter the park. The code changes weekly so be aware.
There is a nice pool, spa and fishing ponds.
73 Grill is a little over a mile away and is OK for bar food. I enjoyed the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Town of Wilmington (12 mile drive) has WalMart and Kroger and Ace and Lowe's. If you are a man and want a decent haircut, I was very pleased when I went to Scotty's. He runs an old fashioned shop and the price is very reasonable. Costco is about 45 minute drive away.
I highly recommend day trips to the following NPS locations (without your RV). President Taft boyhood home, Wright Brothers Museum, Wright Brothers Monument at WPAFB, The Museum of the Air Force at WPAFB and do not miss this unknown GEM, visit the Charles Young Home National Monument. Spend about 2 hours and read all the storyboards and watch the video about the American Hero that not many learned about in school. His life is an amazing story. Hollywood can't make this stuff up.
We stayed here off season in September. We wanted to stop by the National Museum of the US Air Force, which was amazing and highly recommend.
This is a good campground. It has a lot of sites that are broken out into three sections. Spaces are wide enough to not feel cramped. We played in the pool thanks to some late summer weather and had the place to ourselves. There is a lot of open spaces on the grounds and provided a good a good space to bike around. Staff was nice. Place was clean. Laundry was good.
Unfortunately because it was off season some of the things were closed and they had no events scheduled. It looks like they have a lot of events scheduled through out the summer. Might be fun.
We stayed in one of the newer full hook up sections and while we had no shade, the site was large and a huge grassy aread behind the trailer made it even more spacious. Staff was friendly, and this Thousand Trails campground is very well maintained. Close proximity to Caeser Creek, Cowan State Parks. Wish there were more walking trails in the campground itself. Most seasonal people keep their sites maintained well.
Note to Thousand Trails corporate: It would be nice to have your website maps indicate seasonal sites. Of course all the best sites are taken by seasonals, yet it appears by looking at maps you would have a choice of nice sites. It is obvious that those of us who have memberships and travel are not given access to nicer sites.
Thousand Trails Wilmington RV Campground is conveniently located within 25 minutes of Kings Island Amusement Park in southwest Ohio just a few miles off Interstate 71. In this video, I provide a walking tour of Thousand Trails Wilmington RV Campground to include the pool, hot tub, mini golf, cabins, catch and release pond, and the best campsites. Be aware that many of the transient campsites are limited to 30 amp service and not all the campsites are full hookup. On the plus side, the campground has two long pull through campsites designated for overnight travelers. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 5.76 Mbps download speed and 0.30 Mbps upload speed. AT&T cellular service clocked in at 15.4 Mbps dowload speed and 4.65 Mbps upload speed. T-Mobile cellular service clocked in at 5.03 Mbps dowload speed and 0.10 Mbps upload speed.
We are Thousand trails members so we do not pay out of pocket for the site- so you would need to check with the campground for current fee schedule.
When we arrived we were given a list of sites that would handle our 32' rig (overall length 60') and to drive around to find what we wanted, then call into office to let them know which site we chose.
We felt we got SUPER lucky and found right away in Loop A, site 27. Clearly we feel it is the best site in the whole park! It is on a slight bend in the loop so backing in was super easy. With a little adjustment using our LevelMate Pro App on our phone we were able to locate our trailer completely level without any blocks, etc.
The site is on the bend so you have an arc shaped lot which is HUGE. There is plenty of nice lawn, a stone surrounded fire pit area, gravel base site. This site does back up to the main entry road and gate but it is far enough away we did not feel it was an annoyance at all. Folks drove slowly and it was quiet at night. There are some trees, specifically one at the back of the site that lent some nice morning shade.
People have complained that there is a lot of use of golf carts at this campground. We did not see any more than out of norm for a family oriented park and we were there over a weekend in mid June.
We fully used the pool and hot tub both days and had the place almost to ourselves. It was a short walk with a slight hill from our campsite. They were well maintained and perfect temperatures, plenty of chairs and umbrella tables! The little library shed was cute and in our loop. Laundry room was also in our loop and had availability any time we checked it. We did not use it but price was affordable.
Check in person was very prepared and very friendly. We enjoyed very friendly neighbors at our site and folks throughout the campground were congenial, waved as you went by etc. which we have found has more and more not been the case in recent years. We were happy to see nice friendly folks. We will definitely recommend this campground and come back many times when in the area. Plenty to do and see, convenient shopping within 25 minutes too.
We loved it here. There are 3 sections and it appears to us that the annuals do a nice job maintaining their sites. There was not a lot of 50 amp available. Super clean park.
Close to so many things to see and do.
