“perfect place to get away”

It has been said that all rivers run to the ocean; but at Three Rivers State Park; all rivers run yet into another river. When the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers merge to form the Apalachicola River and Lake Seminole the result is a peaceful; natural setting that offers the perfect opportunity to "get away from it all."

There's a lot to love about Three Rivers. It's a small campground so not likely to have a line at the showers or dump station. The lakefront and lakeview sites have a tremendous view. The sites I was in, 8 for 3 nights and 9 for one, were pretty level though I heard others complain about unlevel sites and tree roots. I did see some sites, mostly the smaller ones, that did seem to have a lot of roots. The bath house was clean & had good water heat & pressure. The rangers were awesome, VERY friendly and helpful. There was unfortunately one volunteer who had a really crappy attitude and was rude and unhelpful to a couple gals in our group but she was the exception. And hopefully her volunteer stint will be done next time I'm there. :-)

The negatives are....gun noise. Holy smokes, I thought I was in a war zone at one point when the fusillade of gunfire started at 6am. I guess it's duck hunting. This was in late Jan. I don't know if that goes on all year long. Not good for folks with nervous dogs. Another negative is the campground is pretty far removed from most of the hiking trails and picnic pavilions, etc. Not a problem if you have a vehicle but a pain for those of us who don't.

All that said, I loved it here and will definitely return.

Here I am, back a year after my last review. I still love it here. There wasn't as much gun noise as last time, maybe because it's freezing. However, this year there are bass boats blasting back and forth. I think it's supposed to be a no-wake zone in front of the CG but it's apparently not enforced. I got site #15 this time, which is on the end of the lakefront row so it has more privacy. It's a pretty level and groomed site with an awesome view. One odd thing about this place, the registration office is only open very limited hours. During the week it's open 9:00-9:30am & 4:00-4:30pm. On weekends they add a 12:00-12:30pm shift. So if you're wondering if you can stay another day, you need to be there at 9 am. The main ranger station at the entrance might know too, but it's a couple miles away. Just something to keep in mind. No T-Mobile service.

We stayed over the weekend of New Years 2017. Nice small campground. Friendly Rangers and campers. Best site in my opinion is #8. Near boat ramp but off by itself. Next would be #9 &10. All three face the river. Like other reviewer Boats early in morning and shotgun blasts! Duck season! Other then that the rest of the time quiet. Clean restrooms & nice showers. There is a trail from campground to day use area but, not close.

We scored a lake front site here and really loved it. The campground only offers water and electric, but the dump station was convenient, so no big deal. Sites were nicely spaced and had decent privacy. Some were more level than others, but nothing was unworkable. Everyone we dealt with from the campground was very nice and helpful. We rented a canoe one day, which was awesome. They rent them for $14 for the whole day, which is a steal.

As others have mentioned, you will hear boats on the lake and gun fire from hunters. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly woke us up a couple mornings.

The campground is convenient to I-10, but can also be a great place to explore other state parks. We went to Florida Caverns State Park and Wakulla Springs while we were there. Its also convenient to whatever stores you might need. We really liked this place and would definitely come back.

We spent one night here while evacuating from Florida when Hurricane Irma came calling. Because we were evacuees our stay was free. I believe most of the other campers were also fleeing Irma. Very nice hosts! They coordinated a potluck breakfast and provided the eggs and cooked them. We enjoyed it and meeting several fellow campers. Our site was gravel and dirt and was mostly level. Many of the other sites were much nicer than ours, but we were lucky to get this one as the campground was full up. Nice view of Lake Seminole and we had water and electric hookups. They have a dump. We did not use other facilities, so I cannot comment on them. We would have liked to have stayed longer, but Irma's path shifted west, so we decided to move further west, too. We recommend this Park and would stay here again.

This is a nice small campground on the water. Most of the sites have a view of the lake. Folks at check-in station & in office were all very nice & helpful. Sites are pretty roomy with space between. Not a lot of vegetation for privacy but still didn't feel crowded. Had decent cell service & antenna found several tv channels. Enjoyed a nice hike along the river & through the woods. Saw several deer.

It is a very nice park overall with very friendly staff. Only an average rating because site 14, like most here, are not very level and made it challenging to level out our 32 foot Class C. Noisy bass boats don't abide by the no-wake zone and the water was quite murky.

Site was very clean, level, and spacious. Host was friendly and helpful. The site was right on the water on a bay of Lake Seminole. As mentioned in previous reviews, there are several fishing boats coming and going, especially in the morning and evening. I didn’t find them especially bothersome, but a couple airboats went by and were really LOUD. Overall it was a good site in a nice park. The reason for a four site quality rating was the packed sand site base, which is hard to keep out of the camper.

We arrived around noon and got right into our site. Check-out is 1:00 so you may have someone in your site if you do come early. You do not register at the front gate, but you still need to stop to state you are going to the campground. The registration is done at the office within the campground, but registration is between 4:00 and 4:30. I believe on Saturday they have 12:00 to 12:30 hours. We went over to the office a little after 4:00, but we already received a voicemail on our cell phone asking if we would be arriving between this time or later. This process was a little odd. We are not sure why the registration isn't done at the front gate, but not a big deal.

Our site was a back-in and was easy to get into. It was sandy and with the rain it ended up getting pretty muddy with huge puddles under the rig. There also were some pretty big roots. There wasn't a lot of privacy with our site. Not many trees between you and your neighbors. Sites have 50 amp, 30 amp 110v and water. No sewer, but they have a dump station on the way out. Very convenient and easy to use. We worked during the week and the cell coverage was good with no dropped calls or internet issues. We had 2 bars 4G Verizon with the cell booster. Sometimes it went to 3 bars. The restroom/showers were very clean. The camp host did an excellent job of making sure they were cleaned daily. Showers had good water pressure with plenty of hot water. Camp hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and hardworking. One of the hosts always stopped by to see if we needed wood. Bundle of wood was $5. When we were leaving we stated we were going to the Florida Caverns. He took it upon himself to call to make sure they were open as he said they had been closed due to flooding. They ended up being open, but it was very thoughtful for him to do this.

Lots of trails for hiking and riding your bikes. Some of them are far away to walk to, but we took our bikes so it wasn't bad at all. They also offer canoe rentals. For amenities there isn't much nearby. There is the Piggly Wiggly for grocery shopping, 10 minutes away. We would give it a 3. For the nearby area they did not have a good beer or wine selection. We recommend stocking up before you come. There is a Laundromat next to the Piggly Wiggly. Not the cleanest but it did the job. We didn't see or come across any good restaurants in the nearby area.

Overall our stay here wasn't bad. We would only stay here again if we were passing through the area. We are giving it a 3 due to quality of the site we stayed at, privacy and no sewer. Also there are not many amenities in the nearby area. If we stayed here again it would definitely be for a shorter amount of time.

The drive from the park entrance to the campground was amazing! Paved road winding through pine forests and deer everywhere! Our site (#10) did slope slightly to the right but had no trouble leveling. Site 11, next to us appeared to be more level, but people did tend to kind of cut across the edge of that site to get to the dock. Camp hosts were great, so friendly and helpful, just generally nice people! We did manage to get a decent satellite signal, but not much cell service. The boat launch in the campground is dedicated to registered campers only, they have places to tie your boat up on the water. This is a small park, only 27 sites (I think), and when we were there it was almost all adults. Probably because there is no swimming (Lake Seminole is full of alligators) and other than visiting other close state parks (Florida Caverns and Torryea SP) there's not a lot of things to do in the surrounding area. The lake is considered one of the premier fishing places in the Southeast (if you have a boat) and we saw bass, catfish and bream caught off the dock in front of our campsite. There a several hiking/biking trails of different lengths, all well marked with lovely scenery and lots of wildlife. The campground very clean and bathrooms were spotless. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the lack of sewer hookups, but the dump station was conveniently placed, easy to use and clean. If you're looking for a serene setting to just relax and get away from it all, put Three Rivers SP on your list!
