Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on October 09, 2021No cell service anywhere near this place! The owners say you can get a little bit of Verison service if you're lucky. We had to drive for miles to get any (AT&T) service. The Wifi is laughable too. It only works near the office/store.
There was two different construction projects going on near the campground the week we were there. (3 Oct through 8 Oct 2021) This made for a few days of rude wake-ups and was, probably, the worst part of camping here. We weren't bothered by it during the day since we didn't spend much time in camp after getting breakfast. But, the trucks and machinery did operate until 4:00pm most days. I think Thursday they operated until 4:30.
There's no sewer hookups in any of the sites. However, for a fee you can request a "honey wagon" to come out to your site to pump your tanks. Or, you can take your auxiliary tank to the dump station.... If you have one.
Enough with the negative!
The owners were super nice, friendly, accommodating, These were some of the best owners I've encountered so far.
If you want to get cut off from the world, this is the camp for you. As mentioned, there is no cell service anywhere near this place unless you're a Verison customer. Even then it's spotty according to the owners. The WiFi only works near the Office/Store/owners' house. The WiFi is slow at the best of times. But, if you really need it, it is there.
The bathhouse was one of the nicer I've seen at a campground. It looks like it was cleaned daily even though there were only a small handful of campers through the week. Showers were nice sized, with plenty of hot water. My wife tells me that the ladies' bath house had two showers with shower chairs in them.
We were lucky enough to be camped right beside the stream. It was nice being able to sit out at a campfire and listen to the creek gurgling away. Our small camper gave us the opportunity to set our camper parallel to the stream with our door facing the stream (at the suggestion of one of the owners).
This campground is less than 30 minutes away from Cherry Springs State Park. This park is one of the darkest places on the east coast. Fantastic stargazing! It's also close enough to Benezette, PA that you can easily day trip over to Elk Paradise. Other nearby attractions are: The PA Lumber Museum, Coudersport Ice Mine, Dozen or more state parks, Ruins of Austin Dam, Stevenson Dam overlook, fishing, hiking, and more.
Would I go back? yes!

Our recent stay at Austin Campground in Austin, PA was part of a stargazing trip to Cherry Springs State Park. The stargazing was spectacular and our stay at the campground was absolutely PERFECT! It began and ended with the AMAZING customer service we received. The campground’s new owner, Doug, was clearly a perfect choice to oversee this peaceful haven in the middle of the breathtaking scenery of southwestern Potter County. The campground was beautifully maintained and our lodgings were cozy, comfortable and immaculate. A sincere thank you to Doug and his daughter who couldn’t have been more welcoming. It made our time with our granddaughter what we had hoped it would be - a treasure. I highly recommend this place.
